Handi-Crafters

Handi-Crafters HCOC is one of the largest vocational training and support service providers in Southeastern, PA. The ADLC is a fully-supervised, licensed day program.

Established in 1961, our mission is to provide individuals with various disabilities vocational job training, community socialization, and the support they need to achieve their competitive employment goals. We achieve our goals due to active partnerships with local employers as well as manufacturing contracts with companies all over the world. We support and work alongside our participants who ha

ve special needs. We serve individuals with various intellectual, developmental, or physical disabilities, persons with mental health diagnoses, and veterans. We also have an Adult Daily Living Center (ADLC) for adults with disabilities or who have retired from the HC Opportunity Center. Activities are planned every day, and each participant can enhance their well-being and overall quality of life as they participate. Perfect for respite care during the day.

This summer, Handi-Crafters had the pleasure of welcoming the Downingtown Area School District Special Education Transition Program Team to our organization for a day of joy and connection!

This wonderful group of purpose-driven individuals spent the morning touring our campus, learning more about the various programs and services we offer, seeing our work in action, and reconnecting with many of their former students! ❤️

We extend our sincerest gratitude to the Transition Program Team for their ongoing support of our mission and for their work in helping individuals prepare for opportunities after school at Handi-Crafters!

This past spring, Handi-Crafters was honored to be nominated by The Wright Agency (Downingtown, PA) for Westfield Insurance's Legacy of Caring Program.

Established in 2015, the Legacy of Caring Program has supported hundreds of purpose-driven organizations and strengthened local communities through life-changing philanthropy.

Our organization is proud to be a recipient of this generosity, which will help us continue to expand and strengthen opportunities for 250+ individuals here at Handi-Crafters! 📦

On August 25, 2026, Handi-Crafters had the great pleasure of welcoming Senator Katie Muth back to our organization for an incredible day of connection and impact.

Joined by her Chief of Staff, Nikki Whitlock, members of our Board of Directors, and organization leadership, Senator Muth spent the afternoon revisiting our campus, connecting with our staff, and hearing the inspiring stories of our program participants and volunteers.

On this remarkable day, Handi-Crafters was also honored to receive a Senate Citation on behalf of Senator Katie Muth and Senator Carolyn Comitta to recognize our 65 years of service in Chester County, PA. 📦

Handi-Crafters is proud to recognize Sophie Urban as our July 2026 Employee of the Month! ❤️

Sophie is a tremendous asset to our Nursing Department and the entire Handi-Crafters team. Each day, she provides compassionate, attentive support and brings kindness and reassurance to those around her. She is dependable, always willing to lend a hand, and approaches her responsibilities with care and professionalism.

Sophie is also known for her warm and welcoming presence. You can often find her at the front door in the morning greeting clients and staff with a smile and helping everyone start their day on a positive note!

Throughout July, Sophie continued to demonstrate the qualities that make her such a valued member of Team HC—attentiveness, sound judgment, compassion, and a commitment to the safety and well-being of others.

Congratulations, Sophie! Thank you for everything you do each day to help the people we serve feel healthy, safe, supported, and cared for. We are so fortunate to have you!!!

📦 Program Specialist (Adult Daily Living Center)
📍 Thorndale, PA

Reporting to the Director of the Adult Daily Living Center, this dedicated individual will be responsible for providing counseling, case management, and coordinating the range of services required to enable clients to reach their goals within the Adult Daily Living Center.

Qualifications: Master’s degree and 1 year of experience, Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience, or an Associate’s degree and 4 years of experience working directly with individuals with disabilities.
