This question comes up often in meetings with families navigating both medical and educational systems:

🧩 Without a medical autism diagnosis, insurance will not cover ABA services.

🧩 Without an educational autism eligibility determination, a student is not automatically prevented from receiving special education. Schools consider whether the student meets eligibility criteria and needs specially designed instruction.

Medical diagnosis and school eligibility serve different purposes. It’s okay to ask questions and make sure you understand how each decision affects your child.

Recently one of our families went on vacation. They were sweet enough to think of the peers here at IFS and brought back numerous snacks from around the world for us to try. This is a selection we are trying today.
