It doesn’t matter how many births I have been a part of I am always in awe of the strength women possess to bring their babies into this world.

Pregnancy can bring up emotions, memories, and nervous system responses that many people don’t expect. Trauma-informed prenatal support recognizes that feeling emotionally safe is just as important as physical care.
Triggers during pregnancy can happen during appointments, conversations about birth, loss of control, or unexpected touch. Every experience is different, and every parent deserves care rooted in consent, compassion, and respect.
You are allowed to ask questions, set boundaries, request support, and advocate for what helps you feel sate.

Partners often want to help, but don’t know how.

Communication, reassurance, and emotional support can make a meaningful difference during this transition.

Navigating prenatal care can feel overwhelming, especially when appointments are fast-paced, emotional, or filled with unfamiliar information.
One of the most important reminders doulas share is this:
-You are allowed to ask questions.
-You are allowed to understand your care.
-You are allowed to participate in decisions about your body and your birth.
Advocacy does not mean being confrontational. It means building informed, respectful communication with your care team.
Whether you’re pregnant, supporting someone who is, or working in birth support - these conversations matter.

Fear of birth is more common than people admit.
Especially if you’ve heard traumatic stories, you’ve had medical complications, or you feel out of control.
Fear deserves support, not dismissal.
