Today, on Lou Gehrig Day, we honor the legacy of the baseball legend whose name became forever linked with ALS—and we stand with every person and family facing this disease.

ALS United Ohio proudly hosts Lou Gehrig Day with 3 baseball teams in Ohio—the Dayton Dragons this past Saturday, May 30th, the Cincinnati Reds TONIGHT, and the Columbus Clippers this Friday, June 5th.

More than 80 years later, the ALS community is still fighting for better treatments, stronger research, improved access to care, and policies that reflect the urgency families face every day.

That work depends on action.

Today, we invite you to honor Lou Gehrig’s legacy by contacting your members of Congress through ALS United’s advocacy action alerts page.

As we near the end of May — ALS Awareness Month — we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our pALS (people living with ALS), cALS (caregivers to someone with ALS), families, donors, and volunteers for everything you do throughout the year to support the mission of ALS United Ohio and bring public awareness to ALS.

We are here to care for those diagnosed with ALS, and each of you plays an integral role in helping us continue to provide local, quality services to the ALS community. Thank you for your compassion, dedication, and support!

Take a look at this video and you’ll see that we are not alone. These videos and photos feature ALS United organizations from across the country — including us, ALS United Ohio — all working together to support and advocate for those affected by ALS.

BREAKING NEWS: A key House panel has unanimously approved the ACT for ALS Reauthorization Act.

This bipartisan legislation would help continue programs that are accelerating ALS research, supporting expanded access to investigational therapies, and strengthening the shared infrastructure needed to move promising therapies forward.

ACT for ALS is working. Congress must keep it going before the current law expires this September.

Ask your Member of Congress to support ACT for ALS reauthorization: https://app.oneclickpolitics.com/campaign-page?cid=D9ywLshuaKgGZbKAWUKOI

May is ALS Awareness Month and earlier this month, ALS United member organizations brought the voices of people living with ALS, caregivers, families, and local communities directly to Capitol Hill.

Thank you to the advocates and congressional offices who made time for these important conversations during ALS Awareness Month. The fight to end ALS requires urgency, partnership, and continued federal leadership.

May is a time for awareness, but it is also a time for action. Please help keep the momentum going by contacting Congress through ALS United’s advocacy action alerts page: https://www.alsunited.org/advocacy-action-alerts.

A HUGE shout out and thank you to Leah Hahn for her incredible DIY Walk Event, A Wyandot County Walk for ALS, and raising over $10,000!!!

Leah, a student at Upper Sandusky High School, dedicated her NHS project this year to supporting those affected by ALS, in honor of a family member who was diagnosed with ALS last year.

When asked what inspired her to organize this Walk, Leah said "I decided to do this walk because nobody should have to fight alone."

Thank you, Leah, for supporting and fighting alongside our ALS community. It means the world to us. ❤️
