The Division of Emergency Medical Services is responsible for the education, certification and investigation of all emergency medical service and fire service providers in the state of Ohio. The division serves as the administrative arm of the State Board of EMS which is made up of medical, nu

rsing, hospital administration and EMS and Fire service professionals from around the state. As such, it is our responsibility and our duty to recognize, research, and recommend resolutions to all problems and situations that could prevent the individuals we certify from providing the best possible pre-hospital and fire prevention service to the citizens and visitors of our state.

It is CPR Week! Hands-Only CPR Can Save Lives! If you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest to the beat of any tune that is 100 to 120 beats per minute, such as the classic disco song "Stayin' Alive".

The Ohio Division of EMS has launched a new Safe Haven Program for EMTs and firefighters facing burnout, mental health challenges, or substance use disorders. In partnership with Ohio Professionals Health Program - Ohio PHP, the program offers confidential support and a therapeutic alternative to traditional regulatory action for Ohio certificate holders and applicants. This expansion also aligns with the Ohio Department of Public Safety's mission to keep first responders healthy, both mentally and physically.
