Exceptional care leaves a lasting impact. ❤️
We recently received a heartfelt letter from a patient recognizing the extraordinary care provided by Dr. Stephanie Pisano and her team. The patient shared appreciation for Dr. Pisano’s thoughtful, proactive approach - always exploring every option and working tirelessly to help patients achieve the best possible outcome.
Just as meaningful was the recognition of the compassionate team standing alongside her: Zhane’ C., Kristin H., and Greg G. “Your whole team conveys the same passion and compassion for their patients as you do… what a true God-send you all have been to us.”
Thank you, Dr. Pisano, Zhane’, Kristin, and Greg, for setting the standard for patient-centered care and making such a profound difference in the lives of those you serve. 👏

What a wonderful evening celebrating culture, connection, and community! 🎉

Chrissie Sediqe, MPH, and Pre-Residency Research Fellow Wesley Schwind recently represented the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at the AAPI Heritage Festival hosted by the Bexley Public Library. Nearly 400 attendees came together for an evening filled with cultural performances, community engagement, and celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage. 🌏

Through our partnership with Genentech, we were proud to provide educational resources on ocular disease, treatment options, and the importance of preventive eye care. Events like this create meaningful opportunities to connect directly with community members and help make eye health education more accessible for all.

We’re shining the spotlight on our very own resident, Dr. Lucie Moore! 🔦
She is an absolute delight to work with and someone who is deeply appreciated by both our team and our patients.

One patient even gifted her an “I’m Lucy” shirt inspired by I Love Lucy - a thoughtful gesture that speaks volumes about the connection she builds with those in her care. The shirt now hangs proudly in the Resident workroom at Doan Hall.

We are incredibly fortunate to work alongside such talented, innovative, and compassionate residents.

Celebrating community, leadership, and opportunity

Chrissie Sediqe, MPH, recently participated in the Circle of Excellence (COE), an inspiring annual event hosted by the Bexley Minority Parent Alliance (BMPA) that celebrates the academic achievements of minority students while honoring the power of community leadership and advocacy.

Bringing together students, families, educators, and advocates, the event served as a meaningful reminder of how mentorship, education, and collective support help shape brighter futures and stronger communities. ❤️

Through our partnership with Genentech, the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences has expanded community outreach efforts this year - sharing important information about ocular diseases, treatment options, and the importance of eye health awareness at events like these.

We are grateful to Genentech for supporting opportunities that help us connect with, educate, and empower our communities. 👁️✨

Today’s Grand Rounds brought together Buckeyes past and present for an engaging and collaborative session. We were pleased to welcome back College of Medicine alumna Lindsey DeLott, MD, a board-certified neurologist and neuro-ophthalmologist at the University of Michigan, as the Rogers Bremer Lecture speaker.

The lecture was made possible through the Rogers Bremer Lecture Fund at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, whose team also coordinated the visit. We were additionally glad to host our colleagues from Nationwide Children’s Hospital Ophthalmology, making for a meaningful exchange of ideas and connection across institutions.

Centered on Inspiration. Innovation. Impact., the 52nd Annual North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS) meeting in Boston brought together leaders in the field - including our own team.

Our physicians, June Zhang, MD, PhD, Mairghread Casey, MD, and Hersh Varma, MD were joined by resident Lucie Moore, MD and alumni Raghav Vadhul, MD & Aaron Warning, MD, now a pediatric ophthalmology fellow at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

We’re especially excited to celebrate Dr. Warning, who was selected to present his work, “Low Visibility & An Air Traffic Control Outage.” Opportunities like this highlight our team’s commitment to advancing care and bringing the latest knowledge back to the patients we serve.
