At the heart of great support is something you can’t put on a checklist…

CONNECTION!

A DSP may start as a new face, but over time, they can become someone the person they support looks forward to seeing, trusts, laughs with, and knows will be there.

That kind of relationship takes patience.
It takes consistency.
It takes trust.
And most importantly, it takes genuine care.

The photos we’re sharing this week aren’t just pictures of staff and clients.

They’re snapshots of relationships.

And those relationships are at the heart of why we do what we do at Brighter Abilities.

One of the greatest things a DSP can do isn't to do something for someone. because it is "faster" or "easier." It’s to help them discover what they CAN do for themselves.

Whether it’s learning a new skill, making a choice, trying something for the first time, or simply having the confidence to say, “I can do this.”

Joy has been one of many amazing DSPs with Brighter Abilities to have helped our buddy Kirt to achieve so much. With socialization, manners, and so much more, he is thriving. We met him where he was at, learned what works best for him, and that is what person-centered services looks like.

To EVERY DSP: thank you for believing in the people you support, even when they may not yet believe in themselves.

While some moments may seem “ordinary” to someone, that same moment may be extraordinary to another.

Today kicks off DSP APPRECIATION WEEK!!

This week, we celebrate the incredible people who show up every day and night to make a difference in the lives of the people we support.

Direct Support Professionals do so much more than provide care. They build relationships, create opportunities and encourage independence. They celebrate the wins, both big and small.

At Brighter Abilities, we believe great support starts with a great relationship. The trust built between a DSP and the person they support is something truly special.

To our DSPs: thank you for showing up, caring deeply, and helping make brighter days possible for everyone in our community.
