The results are in. And honestly … I didn’t see this coming. 🤔
Today I ate an entire glazed coconut Amish donut in one sitting as a deliberate experiment. My baseline glucose was 90 mg/dL. I expected to spike to at least 180-200.
I never went above 115. I even did a finger stick to confirm because I couldn’t believe it.
So what happened?
A few things were working in my favor. Earlier in the day I had taken berberine … which many are calling nature’s Ozempic for its ability to help regulate blood sugar naturally. I also took apple c***r vinegar supplements. And right before the donut I drank my 1st Phorm-protein shake. So my body had clearly been set up for success, before that donut ever stood a chance. 😂
Protein slows how fast sugar absorbs into your bloodstream. Berberine supports insulin sensitivity. Apple c***r vinegar blunts glucose spikes.
Together … my body barely flinched.
Now before anyone runs out to eat donuts guilt free … that’s not the takeaway. The donut is still the donut. But what you put in your body throughout the entire day matters. Not just at meal time.
My 10 day average glucose is 98. I wear a continuous glucose monitor not because I have to … but because I never want to have to. And days like today remind me exactly why.
This is what wellness awareness looks like in real life. Messy. Delicious. And incredibly eye opening. 🍩
