3…2…1…blast off! Students in Ms. Karen’s class at the South Boston Day School had a blast during a recent science lesson as they explored the forces behind motion by making their very own balloon rockets!

Using balloons, string, tape, and a little creativity, students built their rockets and then put them to the test. They had so much fun watching their balloon rockets zoom across the room while learning how air and force can create movement.

Science is always more exciting when you can learn by doing!

Classes at the Danville Day School have been exploring social-emotional learning through activities focused on feelings, self-expression and the changing seasons.

Students recently created an activity board showcasing some of their favorite lessons and projects, highlighting how we can recognize, express and manage our emotions as the world around us changes.

Students in Ms. Karen’s class at South Boston Day School have been learning about hygiene and healthy self-care habits! Recently, students got hands-on by making their own toothpaste using ingredients such as baking soda, water, and flavoring. After mixing their creations, they put their toothpaste to the test and practiced proper toothbrushing techniques.

Activities like this help make important self-care skills fun, engaging, and easy to practice while encouraging greater independence in daily routines. Great job, Ms. Karen’s class. Keep smiling! 😁

The Hughes Center South Boston Day School celebrated National Hawaiian Shirt Day last week, and our school was filled with bright colors, big smiles, leis, tropical crafts and plenty of island-inspired fun! 🌴

Staff members took part in a Hawaiian-themed scavenger hunt featuring some very special flamingos with staff faces attached. Hidden throughout the school, these flamingos had everyone searching high and low for a chance to win prizes. The friendly competition brought plenty of laughs as our staff members showed off their detective skills. 🕵️
