We are so grateful for our wonderful volunteers, Reva and Rick, who generously share their time and musical talents with our residents. Reva beautifully plays the piano and leads the musical programs. Rick contributes with his string instruments. They both sing. Additionally, Reva escorts the local Young Musicians group once a month to perform. The group is comprised of children from ages six to ninteen who play a range of instruments and sing.

Their kindness and commitment bring comfort, happiness, and special moments to our residents week after week. Music has a wonderful way of lifting spirits and bringing people together, and we truly appreciate all that Reva, Rick and the members of the Young Musicans do for our community. &Rick

A Wonderful Afternoon of Music at Atria Darien 🎶

Residents and guests at Atria Darien recently enjoyed a beautiful live performance by Amanda Bloom and Zackery Swanson, daughter and son-in-law of resident Charlie Bloom.

Amanda and Zackery, both graduates of the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, have been performing together as a jazz bass and voice duo for nearly two decades. Their intimate arrangements blended jazz standards, folk songs, and cherished favorites from across genres, creating a warm and memorable musical experience.

Their performance showcased not only incredible talent, but also the deep connection and joy that live music brings to our community. Thank you, Amanda and Zackery, for sharing your music and making the afternoon so special!

We recently hosted a beautiful Garden Party for our residents, filled with fun, creativity, and relaxation. Included in the activities was flower arranging instruction led by Engage Life Program Specialist Janet, where everyone had the opportunity to create their own lovely floral arrangements.

Today we proudly honored the brave men and women who served our country. Our resident veterans participated in the Darien Memorial Day Parade, led by Engage Life Staff member Wilner, while fellow residents enjoyed watching the parade on the sidelines or televised live back at the community.

The celebration continued with a delicious BBQ-style buffet shared among residents, and families as we reflected on the meaning of Memorial Day and celebrated together in gratitude and community spirit.

What fun we had today playing Bingo! Our prizes were inspired by tomorrow’s Indianapolis 500 race, adding extra excitement to the games. With Engage Life Program Instructor Kendi at the helm and Concierge Rosa helping, too, some residents challenged themselves by playing two boards at once! Also, a thank you to TJ in Maintenance for helping us setup. Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who joined in the fun. Beep Beep!

We’ve been enjoying some wonderful musical entertainment. A big thank you to our talented guests, Tommy & Cuz and the Over Easy Band. Residents had such a fantastic time singing along. Our Cinco de Mayo celebration was also a huge success, filled with festive decorations, delicious treats, and lots of smiles all around. It’s always so special to see our community come together to celebrate, make memories, and enjoy joyful experiences together.

Thank you to everyone who helps make these events so meaningful for our residents.

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration at Atria Darien, complete with a succulent potting station! We were delighted to welcome so many families as we honored the incredible mothers who call our community home. After brunch, entertainer Steve Keith had us singing and dancing along to the music. It was a joyful afternoon filled with laughter, love and togetherness.

Saturday was a special day at Atria Darien! Led by Engage Life staff member Kendi, residents enjoyed a fascinating presentation about Mexico, delivered by Atria Darien waitstaff member Maria, followed by some delicious sweet treats.

Later in the day, those who wanted to cheer on the horses competing in the Kentucky Derby gathered in the Pub for Derby drinks and hors d’oeuvres while watching coverage of the “Race for the Roses.” Golden Tempo’s incredible run from last to first place left everyone amazed!
