In honor of International Week of Deaf People, we're sharing a few resources that can help Deaf and hard-of-hearing children and families find connection, accessibility, advocacy and community.

The City & County of Denver Deaf & Hard of Hearing Resource Guide includes local organizations, ASL resources, communication technology, family support, advocacy services and more.

And for something FUN, check out Feel the Beat! Their inclusive Colorado dance programs welcome Deaf and hard-of-hearing dancers and people with and without disabilities, using innovative tools—including a vibrational dance floor—to make music and movement more accessible.

Communication doesn't look the same for every child—and that's something worth celebrating.

Sign languages give Deaf people access to communication, education, culture and community. During International Week of Deaf People, the World Federation of the Deaf specifically emphasizes access through national sign languages as part of Deaf people's human rights.

Today we're celebrating the children, families, educators, interpreters and Deaf community members who remind us that there is more than one way to communicate, connect and be heard.

This week is about more than raising awareness. It’s an opportunity to celebrate Deaf identity, culture, community and sign languages while recognizing the importance of communication access and inclusion.

For children, having access to language and communication that meets their needs can make a difference at home, at school and throughout their community. This year's international theme, “Declaring Deaf People’s Human Rights,” reminds us that accessibility and inclusion matter everywhere.

At AFK, we're proud to celebrate the Deaf and hard-of-hearing children, families and communities we serve. 💚

We believe stronger communities create better environments for the children, families, and staff who live in them—which is why we invest our time and support in local initiatives, charities, schools, community events, and organizations making a difference.

💜 What exactly does Occupational Therapy help with?

For kids, OT is all about building the skills they need to participate more fully in everyday life—at home, at school, and in their community.

At All for Kids Home Health, pediatric OT can support children with things like fine motor skills, dressing and self-care, sensory processing, feeding, writing, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and more. Our therapists work with each child and family to identify their individual needs and create a treatment plan designed specifically for them.

Wondering if OT could benefit your child? You can start by calling us—even if you don't already have a referral. Our team can help you through the process.
