Mindfulness can be a simple way for kids to slow down, check in with themselves, and stay connected to the present moment.

From mindful breathing and stretching to noticing sounds, sights, and feelings, small activities can help children build healthy coping skills while making mental wellness part of their everyday routine.

🧠 **WEIRD TRAUMA SYMPTOMS THAT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT**

Trauma doesn’t always look like crying, panic attacks or obvious flashbacks.

Sometimes it can show up in ways that leave you wondering, **“Why is my body doing this?”**

You might experience things like:

🫨 Sudden body jerks when falling asleep
🌫️ Memory blanks or brain fog
😵‍💫 Dizziness or feeling unsteady
🥶 Shaking or trembling
😴 Unexplained yawning when stressed
🕷️ Skin-crawling sensations
🌙 Sleep paralysis
💢 Unexplained aches and tension
👤 Feeling like you saw something out of the corner of your eye

When your nervous system has spent a long time in survival mode, stress can affect **sleep, attention, memory, muscle tension, perception and physical sensations**.

But an important reminder: **not every unexplained physical symptom is caused by trauma.** New, severe, persistent or concerning symptoms should always be discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.

💛 Your experiences deserve to be taken seriously.

At **Recovery Trauma™**, you can explore trauma-informed education, nervous-system regulation tools, grounding exercises, journals, DBT & CBT-informed skills and more.

**WHY AM I SO TIRED ALL THE TIME? 🪫🧠**

Sometimes, tiredness goes deeper than needing an early night.

When you've lived through prolonged stress or trauma, your nervous system may have spent months — or even years — working overtime to protect you.

You may be exhausted from:

🧠 Constantly overthinking
👀 Scanning for danger or changes in people's moods
❤️ Managing intense emotions
😶‍🌫️ Dissociating or shutting down
🎭 Masking and pretending you're okay
🤝 People-pleasing to avoid conflict
🌙 Struggling to get restorative sleep
⚡ Living in fight-or-flight
🪫 Crashing once the stress finally eases

Sometimes you survive the crisis first — **and feel the exhaustion afterwards.**

Your body may finally be saying:

*"I don't have to stay on high alert anymore. I need rest."*

Healing doesn't always look like doing more.

Sometimes healing looks like sleeping.
Saying no.
Slowing down.
Taking a quiet day.
Letting someone else help.
Resting without feeling guilty.

💜 **Being exhausted doesn't make you lazy. Your nervous system may simply be tired from surviving.**

Trauma doesn’t always look like flashbacks or obvious fear. Sometimes, it quietly shapes the way you see yourself, relate to others, and move through everyday life. 🧠❤️‍🩹

You might notice it as:

✨ Feeling unworthy even when things are going well
🧠 A harsh inner voice that constantly criticises you
🤝 Struggling to trust or expecting people to leave
🚪 Avoiding situations where you might fail or be judged
💛 People-pleasing while ignoring your own needs
📱 Needing constant distraction because quiet feels uncomfortable
🫶 Finding it difficult to ask for or accept help
🌫️ Zoning out, disconnecting or feeling emotionally distant
⚡ Carrying stress physically through tension, headaches or jaw clenching

These patterns aren’t proof that someone has trauma, and experiencing one or more doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. But they can be signs worth becoming curious about—especially when they repeatedly affect your relationships, wellbeing or sense of self.

Healing can begin with noticing the pattern without judging yourself for having it.

You don’t have to heal everything at once.
Start with awareness. Then safety. Then small changes. 🌱
