šŸŽ™ļø Podcast #3!

I hope you’ve enjoyed listening to these conversations as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them. šŸ¤
As we wrap up this series, I’d love to hear from YOU — what mental health topics would you like to learn more about?

ADHD? Anxiety? Medications? Kids & teens? Mental health myths? Something completely different?

šŸ‘‡ Comment below! Your ideas may just inspire what we talk about next.

MENTAL HEALTH MYTHS 🧠

There’s a lot we hear about mental health that simply isn’t true. And sometimes, those myths can make it harder to recognize when we need support, understand what someone else may be experiencing, or feel comfortable asking for help.

In this episode, we’re talking with Toni from Midwest Psychiatric Care about some of the most common mental health myths, where they come from, and what we should know instead.
It’s an honest conversation about mental health, misconceptions, and why having better information matters.

šŸŽ§ Tune in this WEDNESDAY

Your first appointment with us is typically about 90 minutes, and that time is all about you.

We take the time to listen, understand what you’ve been experiencing, learn about your history, and talk about what you hope to feel differently.

Maybe you’ve never considered psychiatric care before. Maybe you’re taking that first step because you know something doesn’t feel quite right. Wherever you are starting from, you don’t have to know exactly what you need before you come in.

Psychiatric care can look different for everyone. For some, medication can be an important part of feeling better. For others, it may be part of a larger plan that includes therapy and other support.

We believe in meeting you where you are and partnering with you to find the care that helps you feel your best.

Because the stories of hope, resilience, and people finding their way back to themselves are worth it.

Sometimes feeling like yourself again is the goal.

Sometimes you discover you can feel even better than you have in a long time.

And that’s worth taking the first step. šŸ’›

25 years later, we remember šŸ’™šŸ•Æļø

Today we unite with our fellow Americans in honoring the lives lost on this day: the families, individuals, and first responders at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93.

Our commitment to coming together and supporting one another remains strong.

If you need support, the NAMI HelpLine is here for you. Call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264), text ā€œNAMIā€ to 62640, or email us at [email protected]. Available Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. ET.

Sometimes the hardest thing to say is, ā€œI need help.ā€

Knowing how to start that conversation can be difficult, whether you are struggling yourself or worried about someone you care about.

You do not need to have the perfect words. Starting the conversation, listening without judgment, and helping someone connect with support can make a difference.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate danger or emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

As Toni and Faith share, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, and you do not have to navigate a difficult moment alone.

Today we get to celebrate Faith!

Faith is one of our Psychiatric Providers, and we’re so grateful to have her as part of our team. She brings confidence, kindness, and compassion to the care she provides, and we know those qualities make a difference to the patients and clients she serves.

When she’s not providing psychiatric care, Faith enjoys spending time outdoors fishing and camping, as well as expressing her creativity through interior design. We hope her birthday gives her a chance to enjoy a little of both—whether that means time outside, a little creative inspiration, or simply a day to relax and celebrate.

Please join us in wishing Faith Barth, PMHNP, a very happy birthday!

We’re glad you’re part of our team, Faith, and we hope you have a wonderful day.

Another PMHCA Coffee Consult in the books!

This month we spent time with three practices. Great conversations. Lots of coffee (and smoothies). ā˜•šŸ§

Our PMHCA Coffee Consults have taken us to Bloom Counseling, Pivotal Counseling, and Winds of Change Counseling—bringing pediatric psychiatric consultation directly to the providers caring for kids in our community.

Where should we stop next? Comment below!

Pediatric mental health questions don’t always wait for a specialist appointment.

That’s why we’re working to connect primary care and pediatric providers with Toni Abelseth, PMHNP, for pediatric behavioral health consultation and support.

If you’re navigating a case and have questions about diagnosis, medications, referrals, or simply want another perspective, Toni is available to be a resource for your practice.

There’s no cost to your practice or your patients, and there’s no requirement to transfer care or refer patients to Toni. The goal is simply to give providers someone they know and can reach when pediatric mental health questions come up.

You don’t need to have a current case to get connected. The first step is simply getting to know Toni and establishing a relationship. From there, she remains available as a resource when future questions or cases arise.

šŸ“… Our next consultation availability is Friday, September 11.

If you’re a primary care or pediatric provider and would like to connect with Toni, reach out to us to schedule a brief introduction.

This effort is associated with North Dakota’s Pediatric Mental Health Care Access (PMHCA) Grant, funded by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), administered through the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services – Behavioral Health Division.
