This right here.. if this is actually so, I am soooo already on it. If you know me, you know I have , and always have had, books all over my house and in the shop.. on shelves. In chairs. On the floors, countertops, everywhere. Not just magical, but everything from antique books from the early 1900’s, encyclopedias, maps, atlases, National Geographics, and so on. Recipe books, herbal books, any kind of how to books.
Now upon hearing this, I frequently share this story that I saw on CBS Sunday morning during covid. A librarian from Harvard was talking about how the government had instructed ALL college and public libraries across the country to do an inventory of books that had not been checked out in the last 5 years. Then they were to pull them from the shelves and pack them away. She was incredibly emotional as she said how thousands of books of important literature is now sitting in basements of colleges and in whatever storage places they had to put them.
I actually spoke to a couple of local libraries and they verified this too. Sooo… I wonder if this was a part of a larger future picture.
I don’t normally delve into controversial content on this public page. But this is a very important subject to be aware of and stay alert to what kind of progress is going on with it. That librarian said that the books that were removed from the shelves would most likely never again see the light of day or be transferred to a computer format.
It is worth paying attention to….
