Five Years of Grand South 💙
Five years.
It is hard to put into words what those five years have meant to me.
When Grand South opened its doors on September 1, 2021, we had a beautiful new building and a vision of what we hoped this community would become. Five years later, I can say with certainty that Grand South has become so much more than a building. It has become a family.
Over these five years, I have had the privilege of knowing some truly incredible people. I have listened to stories that span nearly a century. I have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, new friendships, and countless small victories. I have laughed until I cried with residents and staff—and there have also been days when we simply cried together.
We have welcomed families through our doors during some of the most difficult transitions of their lives. They have trusted us with someone they love deeply, and I have never taken that responsibility lightly.
We have also said goodbye to people who left a permanent mark on this community and on my heart. One of the greatest lessons of the last five years has been that you don't simply care for people here. You grow to love them. And when you love people, they become part of your story forever.
I am incredibly proud of our team. Senior living is not easy work. It requires patience, sacrifice, compassion, humor, flexibility, and a heart for serving others. I have watched our employees show up on difficult days, celebrate residents on the good ones, hold hands, wipe tears, dance in hallways, solve problems, and do a thousand little things that may never receive recognition—but make an enormous difference in someone's life.
To our residents, past and present: thank you for allowing us into your lives. You are the reason Grand South exists.
To our families: thank you for your trust, your support, your grace, and your partnership. Thank you for becoming part of our family, too.
To our employees: thank you for giving Grand South its heart. A beautiful building can open its doors, but it takes people who genuinely care to turn it into a home.
And to everyone who has been part of our journey over these five years—thank you.
There have certainly been challenges along the way. We have learned, grown, changed, celebrated, grieved, made mistakes, gotten better, and kept moving forward together. Through all of it, one thing has remained constant: our residents are at the center of what we do.
As I look around Grand South today, I don't just see five years.
I see friendships. I see families. I see pictures on walls and celebrations in the dining room. I see residents sitting together who once walked through our doors as strangers. I see employees who have discovered that this is more than a job. I see memories everywhere.
And most of all, I see home.
Happy 5th Anniversary, Grand South Senior Living.
What an incredible privilege it has been to be part of
your story.
Here’s to the people who made these first five years so special—and to all the memories still waiting to be made.
With love and gratitude,
Jamie Summers
