Rural women deserve access to quality care close to home. ❤️

That’s one of the reasons we’re proud to see our very own Justin Peterson, MD, OB-GYN, featured in Georgia Rising: A Rural Health Story.

The upcoming story explores the healthcare challenges facing rural Georgia — including provider shortages, hospital closures and barriers to accessing care — while highlighting the people and innovative solutions working to strengthen rural healthcare.

As a rural OB-GYN, Mercer University School of Medicine alumnus and preceptor, Dr. Peterson understands firsthand the importance of providing women with access to specialized care in their own communities.

We’re proud to have Dr. Peterson representing rural healthcare and sharing his perspective on an issue that matters deeply to the women and families we serve.

Staying active during pregnancy can help support both physical and mental wellness for many moms-to-be. đź’•

Light exercise and gentle stretching may help improve energy levels, reduce stress, ease discomfort, and prepare your body for childbirth. Activities like walking, prenatal yoga, and simple stretching routines can be great ways to stay moving while pregnant. 🤰✨

Every pregnancy is different, so it’s important to talk with your doctor to understand if you have any limitations or restrictions when it comes to exercise during pregnancy. Always listen to your body and focus on safe, comfortable movement for you and your baby.

Healthy habits during pregnancy can make a big difference for both mom and baby. đź’•

Eating healthy while pregnant is important for both the mother and her new bundle of joy. Focusing on fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats can help you stay on track and provide important nutrients for your growing baby. Avoiding extra sugars found in soda and sweet treats, and limiting fried foods, can also help support a healthier pregnancy.

Small choices each day can lead to big benefits for you and your little one. 🍼🍎🥦
