October is SIDS Awareness Month, making it a great time to raise awareness about safe sleep for babies!

A safe sleep space starts with a clear crib. Always place babies on their backs to sleep in a crib with a firm, flat mattress and a fitted sheet. Keep blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, and other items out of the sleep space.

💙 Congratulations to our September Team Member of the Month, Eunice Holman, Manager of Social Services!

Eunice has been part of the Westside team for 7 years, helping connect patients and families with resources and support to meet their social, emotional, and financial needs.

When asked about her role, Eunice shared:

"I oversee the Social Services team and Home Visiting Community Health Workers, connecting patients and families with resources and support to address social, emotional, and financial needs."

Her favorite part of the job is making a difference in the lives of those she serves:

We have partnered with the YMCA of Delaware to enroll Westside's Dover patients who are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes in the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program. There is typically a fee for this program, but Westside patients will be able to participate at no cost thanks to the Potter Trust grant funds. Before developing the disease, patients can reduce body weight by 7% and increase physical activity to 150 minutes per week over the course of 16 weeks in order to prevent diabetes. This pilot at the Dover health center will lead to referring all at-risk Westside patients to the program.
