Congratulations to our practitioner Misook and her husband Munseog for recently completing a 10K run with RunThrough USA in Philly. Now a grandma and in her sixth decade of life, Misook inspires us by only recently picking up running to support her fitness. She finished a 7K in the spring and now a 10k.

Also, what a great activity to be doing as a couple. Staying healthy together!

Whether it’s running, cycling, or even walking, cardiovascular exercise is one of the best things you can do to support your long-term health. This applies to all systems of the body, whether we are talking about cardiovascular, neurological, metabolic and endocrine, immune— you name it.

You can start small with any activity, such as a 10 minute walk, and try to work your way up to at least 45 minutes, three times per week.

Let us know if we can support you in getting hooked on a movement habit ☺️

How is acupuncture used in East Asia for neurological conditions? ⚡

Acupuncture is highly regarded in China and other parts of East Asia as a first-line, evidence-based modality for stroke rehabilitation and other conditions.

In fact, many methods currently being researched and incorporated in Western medicine—such as trans-cranial electrical stimulation for brain disorders, vagus nerve stimulation for dysautonomia, and tibial nerve stimulation for overactive bladder— are drawing upon principles that have already been a part of acupuncture neurology practice for decades.

Western and Eastern medicine inform each other, and complement each other, when it comes to finding the best therapies to optimize the human nervous system.

An advantage of acupuncture is it is a relatively non-invasive, extremely safe modality that can even sometimes help a patient reduce the need for medications and surgical interventions.

Healing is not just from caring for the body, but is also from feeding the soul, and through our connections with others.

We’ve arrived at five years since moving into our much loved State Street location. Our renovation had turned this dilapidated former podiatrist’s office into a real work of art— a true space of healing. And with our spacious front room, it only makes sense to connect with the community through art.

Thanks to all who came out over the weekend. CNXNS remains on display all week— stop in any day through Friday from 9-6.

Many stunning works are also for sale, with a portion of proceeds funding integrative cancer care. Hope to see you!

Parents, we did it!! 👏 We got through the first week of school, and Labor Day weekend is already here. Summer flew by, and we're already in the -ber months — with new schedules, after-school activities, and all the festivities the holidays will soon bring.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let's talk self-care. Fall doesn't officially start until later this month, but with the changing weather and the increased demands life brings right now, our bodies need support.

Acupuncture is one of the best tools you can add to your school-supply box this season — helping you stress less, sleep better, and feel energized enough to keep up with the chaos.✨

You've spent all summer taking care of everyone else. Take a moment for yourself. Book your fall acupuncture session today and give your body the care it's been asking for. Check out bridge.janeapp.com or DM to schedule!

FAQ : Does acupuncture hurt?

Answer: Most people are surprised by how little acupuncture hurts.

Acupuncture needles are much thinner than the hollow needles used for injections or blood draws.

You may feel a quick pinch as a needle is inserted, but many people feel little or nothing at all.

An experienced acupuncturist also knows many methods to “distract” the sensation from needle insertions, making the process as comfortable as possible.

Once a needle is in place, sensations can include warmth, heaviness, tingling, a dull ache, or a mild spreading sensation.

Those sensations are not the same as sharp or escalating pain and most patients actually enjoy acupuncture sensations.

During the retention of needles, many patients become very relaxed and even sleepy.

If anything feels uncomfortable, you are invited to tell your practitioner right away. Needles can be adjusted, removed, or avoided entirely in a particular area.

A skilled acupuncturist will have many needle sizes and strategies available to enable even the most sensitive patient to receive care.
