Help your Qi with some of these food options to bring balance to your body
Get • Many people struggle with bloating, brain fog, fatigue or water retention without realising that in Traditional Chinese Medicine this is often linked to Dampness.

In TCM, dampness is described as heavy, sticky and turbid. It can affect digestion, energy, mental clarity and the skin. When the spleen cannot properly transform and transport fluids, moisture accumulates.

Food can help transform, dry or drain dampness depending on the pattern.

Foods that help with Damp Cold
Often seen with bloating, loose stools, fatigue, a cold abdomen and a white tongue coating.
These foods warm digestion and support the Spleen:
• ginger
• cinnamon
• garlic
• fennel seeds
• cardamom
• aged tangerine peel (chen pi)
• spring onions
• millet

Foods that help with Damp Heat
Often seen with heaviness, acne, skin issues, greasy tongue coating or sticky stools.
These ingredients help clear heat while draining dampness:
• coix seeds (yi yi ren)
• adzuki beans
• mung beans
• corn silk
• chrysanthemum

Neutral foods for both patterns
These support digestion and fluid metabolism without strongly heating or cooling:
• fu ling (poria)
• brown rice
• barley
• red lentils

In TCM, some foods drain dampness, others strengthen the spleen so it stops forming, and others move Qi so it does not stagnate.

Some ingredients listed are traditional TCM herbs used in specific formulations and tonics, not everyday foods.

Dampness is a pattern, not a diagnosis. Avoid self diagnosing and consult a qualified practitioner.

Take your shoes off and walk the earth! Ground yourself back with nature. Get • A human foot is home to about 7,000 nerve endings that all correspond to specific areas of the bodywhich is why going barefoot and being grounded is such a great way of healing the whole body.

Fascia surrounds each muscle and connects with a fascial sheath that surrounds each organ, and then small fibres connect the sheaths around each organ down to each little cluster of cells.

In this way, we can better understand how just one small tiny piece of skin connected with the ground can nourish the whole body with the electrons required for electrical balance and healing.

Our modern society means that we tend to live almost permanently disconnected from the ground.

The good news is it’s never too late to reverse the many years we have all spent disconnected from the earth.

When electrons enter the body through the feet, they immediately migrate upward, so the longer and more often you are connected to the earth, the better for your body, your overall health, and general well-being.

Try it.

Do it every day.

Even if it’s just for 5 minutes at a time.

Make it a habit.

Your body will thank you for it.
