Foot problems and skin problems go hand in hand.
Well....er.... You get what we mean!

Case in point: we see a ton of folks come in with psoriasis on their feet and ankles...only to find that the problem is really athlete's foot! Or vice versa.

Think you might have misidentified the problem? It happens all the time.

Getting your daily steps in while answering emails is fantastic for your cardiovascular health. But walking on a textured treadmill belt in just your socks—or worse, barefoot—is a terrible idea for your foot health.

Walking without proper support for miles a day on a moving belt alters your natural gait and creates severe friction. Which is a pain for most people.....and a serious health risk for those of us managing diabetes!

Wear some supportive indoor walking shoes to prevent friction injuries.

If you've noticed a bump forming at the base of your big toe, you may be wondering whether it's something you can simply live with. While some bunions remain relatively stable, many gradually become worse over time, especially if the underlying cause isn't addressed.

Bunion treatment isn't one-size-fits-all. At Syracuse Podiatry, patients receive individualized care based on the severity of the deformity, symptoms, and lifestyle goals, helping them find relief while protecting their long-term foot health: https://tinyurl.com/bddye9pp

You’ve probably heard a lot about flat feet and high arches, but your foot arch isn’t just a curve for no reason. It is your body's built-in shock absorber, helping you balance and protecting your joints every time you walk or run.

Want to know if your arch structure is putting you at risk for injury? Try the classic, simple Wet Test:

1.) Wet the sole of your foot in a shallow pan of water.
2.) Step firmly onto a piece of cardboard or dark paper.
3.) Step off and look at the blueprint of your footprint.

All done? Check out our blog for a quick explanation of the results:

Take a look at the bottoms of your favorite shoes.

Notice uneven wear?

Your shoes can reveal a lot about how you walk and whether your feet are putting extra stress on your ankles, knees, or hips.

Sometimes replacing worn-out shoes helps. Sometimes there's a bigger issue worth addressing.

Summer is the season of sandals, flip-flops, pool days, and barefoot walks. However, if you've noticed your calluses becoming thicker or more noticeable this time of year, you're not imagining it. Many people experience worsening calluses during the warmer months, and several common summer habits are to blame.

At Syracuse Podiatry, we help patients throughout Central New York treat painful calluses and identify the underlying causes to keep their feet healthy all season long: https://tinyurl.com/4fw2b93k
