Meet Arlene Eastright, Patient Financial Counselor at DHR Health, proudly celebrating 13 years of service!

Arlene works closely with patients to verify insurance and billing information while also helping them find financial assistance programs. Her goal is to help ease the financial burden of medical care and make sure patients understand the resources available to them.

Raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Arlene is a proud wife and mother of three. She loves that DHR Health is committed to serving the community and providing resources that help people live healthier lives.

What makes Arlene’s work special is knowing she can bring some relief during a difficult time. After many years of helping patients find financial support, she continues to find purpose in easing some of the stress that can come with medical care.

Outside of work, Arlene enjoys gardening, growing fruit trees, and spending quality time with her family.

When a routine illness suddenly became an ICU stay, Giovanni Cantu, RN, CCRN, provided the kind of care one family says they will never forget.

Giovanni earned the DAISY Award, which recognizes excellence in nursing care, after helping a patient and her family move through an unexpected hospitalization with a sense of safety and confidence that stayed with them even after she left the ICU.

“Thank you, truly, for being a light for my family when we needed one the most. Your kindness, patience, and compassion will stay with us forever. I will never forget how you treated us…thank you, Giovanni Cantu.”

Twenty years of the DHR Health Fishing for Hope Tournament, and another incredible year of giving back to our community.

This year’s tournament once again brought together sponsors, anglers, volunteers, physicians, employees, and community partners in support of the Hope Family Health Center.

Over the past two decades, Fishing for Hope has raised nearly $5 million to help provide free medical, counseling, and laboratory services to people across the Rio Grande Valley. Every year adds to the impact, and every contribution helps make care possible for someone.

Meet Juan Monjaraz, Patient Financial Counselor at DHR Health, proudly celebrating 11 years of service!

Juan helps patients find financial assistance and programs that can provide relief from medical bills. He works to make sure patients understand their options and know that help is available when they need it.

Born in the Rio Grande Valley and raised in Mexico, Juan is proud to serve the community he grew up around. He is also a proud father and grandfather who deeply values his family.

What Juan loves most about DHR Health is the support he has received from his leadership and the opportunities he has been given over the years. He appreciates knowing that he is cared for and encouraged to continue growing.

Some of Juan’s favorite memories are volunteering with DHR Health and giving back to the community. He finds it rewarding to step outside of his everyday role and come together with others to help those around him.

Outside of work, Juan enjoys watching movies, going to live concerts, and collecting Funko Pops.

For some patients facing pancreatic cancer, there is now another treatment option available close to home.

DHR Health now offers endoscopic radiofrequency ablation, an advanced therapy that allows specialists to precisely target a pancreatic tumor and deliver controlled heat directly to the area. This is currently available at only a small number of extremely specialized centers in the United States.

For carefully selected patients, this treatment may be used alongside chemotherapy and, when appropriate, surgery as part of a personalized care plan.

For patients and families navigating a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, having access to more treatment options can help physicians tailor care to each individual and expand the possibilities available to them.

Summer nights are best spent with our community.

DHR Health joined police departments from Edinburg, McAllen, Pharr, San Juan, and Alamo for their National Night Out events.

National Night Out helps our community connect with the local first responders who help keep it safe. For DHR Health, it is a chance to stand alongside them and show families that their health is part of the support surrounding them.

For 20 years, the DHR Health Fishing for Hope Tournament has brought people across our community together to help ensure families in the Rio Grande Valley can receive the care they need.

Since the beginning, over $5 million has been raised for the Hope Family Health Center, supporting a place where physicians and healthcare professionals give their time to care for those who may otherwise go without medical and counseling services.
