A fall doesn’t have to become an emergency.
One of the most important skills older adults can learn is how to safely get up from the floor after a minor fall. While we all hope it never happens, being prepared can make a huge difference in maintaining independence and confidence.
In this video, I’m demonstrating a simple technique that can help you get back up safely if you find yourself on the floor after a minor fall.
But here’s the bigger lesson: the ability to get up from the floor doesn’t happen by accident.
It requires strength and mobility in the:
✅ Legs, glutes and hips to support your body weight
✅ Core muscles to help you move and stabilize
✅ Arms and shoulders to assist with pushing up
That’s why regular exercise is so important as we age. Strong muscles, good balance, and better mobility not only help reduce your risk of falling—they also help you recover more effectively if a fall does occur.
Think of exercise as building your “independence muscles.”
If you’re worried about balance, strength, mobility, or fall prevention, I’d love to help. I offer online personal training and welcoming online exercise classes specifically designed for older adults. Together, we can help you stay strong, active, and confident for years to come.
