This November, we’re raising awareness about lung cancer and the importance of early detection.
If you’re at higher risk, a low-dose CT lung screening may help detect lung cancer early, when treatment may be more effective.
Know your risk. Talk to your doctor. Take care of your lungs.

A mammogram saved her life. Now she’s here to help make yours easier.

In 2017, Elizabeth had a mammogram. She had no family history of breast cancer. She didn’t smoke or drink. She had no pain, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But her mammogram found an abnormality, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

As her oncologist was building her treatment plan, Elizabeth and her doctor learned she was pregnant. Everything changed. Her care team adjusted her plan, and Elizabeth delivered twins. After their birth, she completed her treatment, and she has been cancer-free since 2019.

“A mammogram saved my life.”

Today, her twins are 8 years old. And since New Year’s Eve 2025, Elizabeth has been part of the Desert Imaging family as one of our Mammo Hostesses. She helps women feel prepared and at ease before their mammogram. When a patient feels nervous or has questions about what comes next, Elizabeth understands because she has been there.

She says what she loves most about our team is how compassionate and caring everyone is. We feel the same way about her.

When you come in for your mammogram, our Mammo Hostesses will welcome you. Call (915) 577-0100 to schedule your mammogram today.

What is Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer develops when cells in the breast grow out of control. It may cause a lump or another change, but early breast cancer often has no symptoms.
Early detection is your best protection. Screening mammograms can find changes before you can feel them. If a change needs a closer look, a diagnostic mammogram can help your care team investigate; a biopsy is needed to confirm breast cancer.
Screening mammograms are covered at no cost under many insurance plans. Ask us to check your coverage when you call.

Is your mammogram 3D? It’s worth asking.

At Desert Imaging, 3D mammography is our standard for mammogram screenings. A 2D mammogram creates flat images of the breast. A 3D mammogram takes images from multiple angles, giving the radiologist a clearer view of breast tissue.
When you schedule your mammogram, ask if it will be 3D. If it isn’t, schedule with us!
We offer 3D mammography at four convenient locations:
- West: Castellano, near Executive and Mesa
- East: Lee Trevino, near Trawood
- Far East: Joe Battle, near Edgemere
- Horizon City: Eastlake and Darrington

Screening mammograms are covered at no cost under many insurance plans. Ask us to check your coverage when you call.

Six Things You Should Know About Breast Cancer

1. Breast cancer can affect anyone.
Although it is much more common in women, men can also develop breast cancer.

2. Your risk increases with age.
Age is one of the most important risk factors, and most breast cancers are diagnosed after age 50.

3. You don't need to have a family history.
Having a family history can increase risk, but some women develop breast cancer without any known family history or other obvious risk factors.

4. Breast cancer may have no symptoms.
A person can have breast cancer without feeling a lump or noticing any changes. That's one reason screening is so important.

5. Mammograms can find cancer early.
A mammogram can detect breast cancer before it is large enough to feel or cause symptoms. Finding cancer early can make it easier to treat.

6. Know your risk and follow a screening plan.
Talk with your healthcare provider about your personal risk and when you should begin and continue mammography. Screening recommendations can differ depending on your age and risk factors.
