The University of Texas at El Paso Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is a three year program where you earn a clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy.

We enroll 36 students a year in the program. We hold continuing education courses for licensed PTs. Physical Therapy, as a member of health care professions, provides services to mankind through quality health care by means of restoration, prevention, and maintenance. The academic preparation to provide these services is brought to fruition through an educational program that is based on a broad and comprehensive foundation from the liberal arts and the sciences. The Physical Therapy Program at the University of Texas at El Paso recognizes that individual and cultural differences influence perspectives on wellness and disability. The educational program is designed to prepare the student to be a competent physical therapist and an integral member of the health care team concerned with the total rehabilitation of every patient by enhancing the autonomy of the consumer in reaching realistic functional outcomes, and respecting the rights of individuals.

PT&MS behaved maturely for approximately five minutes before responding with The Gaitkeepers. 😎

Spooky that the ‘27s are half way through their rotations! Here’s some of our students with their hauntingly awesome clinical instructors! Next stop, CE3 💀🎃🩺

One student had the opportunity to experience the HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb) through SoCal Elite Physical Therapy SoCal Elite Physical Therapy and RISE Healthcare group RISE Healthcare Group (RHG) which is the first exoskeleton powered by the wearer’s intention to move! By reading bioelectrical signals sent from your brain to your legs, it helps to improve neural pathways necessary for movement that are especially important for individuals with neurological conditions!

One student’s aquatic therapy consisted of treating patient population of spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, post-polio, ect. They integrated techniques such as The Bad Ragaz Ring Method using floatation devices to promote muscle relaxation, joint proprioception, decrease spasticity, and activation of core and trunk muscles. They also did interventions involving assisted ambulation and resisted movements such as sit to stand and upper extremity movements in a gravity minimized environment with the use of the water buoyancy.
