🥇 Gold Medal Living at Hubbard Hill

Meet 98-year-old Carl Grove, a resident of The Village here at Hubbard Hill, following the footsteps of his mother who once called Hubbard home too.

Carl is a competitive cyclist with more than 20 medals to his name. How many exactly? He’ll tell you he’s lost track. And just days ago, he added another medal to the collection.

But ask Carl why he keeps cycling at 98 and the medals aren’t really the point.

“You’ve gotta keep moving. Find someone younger than you and keep up, be thankful for the day, and keep going.”

And then there’s the reason that matters most.

“I want to be an inspiration. I want to show older people that life is still worth living. You can still do things.”

At Hubbard Hill we believe aging isn’t about stepping away from life. It’s about continuing to live it fully, with purpose, possibility, and something still worth reaching for.

At 98, Carl isn’t simply winning medals. He’s showing us what gold medal living looks like.

Together, we're building a more dementia informed community.

This week, Hubbard Hill welcomed leaders from Elkhart General Hospital and North East Indiana Alzheimer’s Association to the Living Wisdom Center for Dementia Care for educational tours and collaborative discussions led by our very own Debbie Carriveau, RN, C., CDP, QMCP, Executive Director of Dementia Service.

With more than four decades dedicated to dementia and geriatric care, Debbie shared the philosophy behind the LWC and what makes the approcach radically different and the radical difference it has on quality of life.

We're thankful to be a part of a community that is collaborative, shares knowledge, invests in education, and is dedicated to improving the lives of all individuals but especially those living with dementia.
