Late October in the Hollow carries its own kind of magic. Golden leaves drifting through the trees. Cool air settling in just after sunset. Firelight flickering against the forest as the moon rises overhead.

The Hunter Full Moon has long been connected with gathering, storytelling, celebration, and community. Traditionally, it was known as the moon that lingered longer in the sky, casting extra light across the fields and forests as people prepared for the colder season ahead. There is something ancient and deeply comforting about coming together beneath it.

Tiny jumping spiders are surprisingly intelligent, curious little hunters with incredible eyesight.
They don’t spin webs to catch prey. They stalk, observe, and leap with shocking precision.

Symbolically they carry energy around:
• courage
• curiosity
• creativity
• trusting the leap

Honestly, this tiny guy felt less like a spider and more like a tiny woodland guardian checking in for a moment. 😂

Summer 2000
We had just landed from London to Los Angeles… and somehow this little guy is now 26.

Come hang out with us. Bring a blanket, bring a picnic, stay awhile… or just swing by and say hi.

Take a look these waterfalls 😍
Right now the forest floor in the Hollow is glowing with trout lilies.

Yellow and white ones everywhere, tucked into last year’s leaves like little lanterns of spring.

They’re called trout lilies because the leaves have speckles that look like trout markings. They only bloom for a short window each spring before the trees leaf out.

One of the beautiful things about them is that they usually grow in very healthy, undisturbed forests. They spread slowly underground and can take years before a plant even flowers, so when you see them carpeting the woods it means the forest has been quietly thriving for a long time.

Karl and I have been out getting the trails ready for the season. Clearing branches and picking up any stray trash because when you love a place like this, you take care of it.

This part of the Ozarks sits on very ancient mountains full of quartz and spring water. Sometimes it feels like the land itself is humming.

Living on a quartz mountain also means sparkle rocks are everywhere. Today one little geode caught the sunlight and clearly suggested it might like to come home with me. I’m giving it a rinse in the creek to see if it reveals its magical intentions.

With quartz underfoot, waterfalls running, and the forest waking up, the whole place feels alive again.

Spring in the Ozarks is something special. 🌿✨
