Investing in Rural Healthcare: A Message from Fairfax Behavioral Health & Memory Care Community

When my husband and I first came to Fairfax in 2023, we saw more than a building, we saw an opportunity to preserve healthcare access, create jobs, and serve the residents and families of rural Oklahoma.
At that time, Fairfax Manor was facing significant challenges and an uncertain future. We believed this community was worth investing in. On November 1, 2023, we made the decision to acquire the facility and dedicate our time, resources, and experience to rebuilding and strengthening the community.
As a licensed long-term care administrator with more than 20 years of experience in healthcare, I believe leadership requires commitment, accountability, and being present every day. I am proud to say that I am a hands-on owner and administrator. I work alongside our employees, residents, families, and healthcare partners because I believe the best care happens when leadership is engaged and accessible.
Over the past two years, our team has worked tirelessly to transform Fairfax Behavioral Health & Memory Care Community into a growing healthcare organization focused on meeting the needs of residents requiring specialized behavioral health and long-term care services.
Our growth has created new employment opportunities in our community. What began as a small team has grown into a workforce of approximately 70 dedicated employees, representing millions of dollars in local payroll and economic impact. Every dollar earned through our healthcare services is reinvested into our residents, employees, facility improvements, and continued operations.
We are proud of the partnerships we have built throughout Fairfax and the surrounding communities. Our organization has supported local schools through donations and sponsorships, partnered with local businesses, participated in community events, supported local healthcare initiatives, and worked alongside churches, hospitals, and community organizations to strengthen rural healthcare.
Some of our community efforts include:
* Supporting Fairfax Public Schools with school supply donations and community involvement
* Sponsoring local athletics and community activities
* Hosting community events such as Halloween celebrations, Easter activities, holiday events, and community meals
* Partnering with local organizations to support families during difficult times
* Investing in facility improvements and creating a better environment for residents and staff
* Advocating for rural healthcare needs and opportunities throughout Oklahoma
Healthcare is one of the most challenging industries in our nation. Long-term care requires compassion, dedication, and a commitment to continuous improvement. There are regulations, challenges, and difficult decisions every healthcare organization faces. What matters is how we respond, how we improve, and how committed we remain to those entrusted to our care.
Our mission has always been centered around our residents. They are not just names on a census sheet, they are mothers, fathers, grandparents, friends, and members of our communities. They deserve dignity, respect, compassion, and quality care.
I am incredibly proud of our employees who show up every day and give their hearts to this profession. I am grateful for our families who trust us with their loved ones. I am thankful for the community members who have welcomed us and supported our mission.
As we continue expanding healthcare access through our Tonkawa community, our goal remains the same: to provide compassionate care, create employment opportunities, and strengthen rural healthcare in Oklahoma.
I do not believe leadership is measured by words, it is measured by actions. Every day, our team continues to show up, work hard, improve, and serve.
