Getting an annual flu vaccine is the most important step in preventing seasonal flu and spreading it to others, but there are additional measures you can take to lower your risk.

Washing your hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when you’re sick are all ways to help protect against the flu.

More than 100 community members came together on Saturday, October 24, for the inaugural Cape Cod Walk for Research, supporting the Lustgarten Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research’s mission to advance pancreatic cancer research. This memorial walk honored the life of Debbie Gentile, a Falmouth resident known for her compassion and kindness and patient at the VNA of Cape Cod's McCarthy Care Center.

Cape Cod Healthcare was proud to be among the event sponsors, with Dr. Ethan Glazener, chief of radiation oncology, was in attendance to share remarks alongside other leaders and advocates in the pancreatic cancer community. The event brought together patients, families and community members to honor loved ones, raise awareness and support progress toward a cure.

The walk raised an impressive $37,000 in its first year, demonstrating the power of community support and a shared commitment to advancing pancreatic cancer research.

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated and helped make this event a success.
