May is Celiac Disease Awareness Month

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten that can affect children in many different ways and symptoms and not always obvious.

While some children experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, or bloating, others may present with:

*Iron deficiency anemia
*Delayed puberty
*Headaches
*Skin rashes
*Behavioral or mood changes

Because symptoms can vary so widely, many children go undiagnosed for years.
