🌎👁️ Happy World Sight Day!
What an incredible reminder of the difference we can make when we come together with one mission: helping people see a brighter future.
Dr. Shaver recently participated in an extraordinary eye-care mission in Turks and Caicos, partnering with the Sandals Foundation and Great Shape! Inc.’s iCARE program to bring essential vision care to the community.
In just ONE trip, an incredible team of 50 volunteers — including 12 optometrists and 2 ophthalmologists — came together to provide life-changing services to thousands of people.
✨ The impact of this mission:
👁️ 2,500 eye exams performed
🏫 2,000 school vision screenings completed
🤓 1,000 pairs of prescription glasses to be dispensed
💙 Numerous laser procedures performed to help protect and preserve vision
All of this in a single trip! Behind every number is a real person, a family, or a child whose life can be changed by access to quality eye care.
The iCARE program works to bring essential vision services to underserved communities throughout the Caribbean, providing eye exams, glasses, and treatments for conditions that can threaten sight. This mission is a powerful example of what compassionate care and dedicated teamwork can accomplish.
For World Sight Day, we’re reminded that vision is more than just seeing — it’s about opportunity, independence, education, and quality of life.
