💜 Getting Help Comes First💜

During a suspected overdose, call 911 immediately and give naloxone—commonly known as Narcan—if it is available.

Michigan’s Good Samaritan Law protects people from certain drug-possession charges when they seek medical help for an overdose under qualifying circumstances. The purpose of the law is to encourage people to call for help instead of allowing fear to prevent them from taking lifesaving action.

Serenity House Communities’ Peer Overdose Response Team—PORT provides compassionate, peer-led support following an overdose. Our team can provide recovery resources, peer support, Narcan education and distribution, resource navigation, transportation assistance, and connections to additional services.

Supplies currently available:

💜 Narcan kits: Many available
💜 Fentanyl test strips: Limited supply
💜 Safe Harm Kits
💜 Contraceptives
💜 Pregnancy Tests

We can also provide multiple Narcan kits and other available supplies to local organizations that would like to distribute them within their communities.

Please do not be afraid or embarrassed to reach out. You can contact us for yourself, a family member, a friend, a participant, or someone in your community. Being prepared and having Narcan nearby can help save a life.

For supplies, organizational requests, or additional information, please contact:

During an overdose:

📞 Call 911.
💜 Give Narcan.
🤝 Stay with the person until emergency help arrives.
📞 Then call our PORT Team for Peer Support after an overdose. 810-569-1342

There is no shame in asking for help. An overdose does not define someone, and recovery is always possible.

Michigan’s Good Samaritan Law has specific requirements and limitations. This post provides general information and is not legal advice.
