If you or a loved one are preparing for dialysis, you may have heard the term "Hemodialysis Access." But what exactly is it?

Simply put, it is a surgically created site (usually in the arm) that allows blood to flow safely to and from the dialysis machine. At Michigan Vascular Center, our specialists focus on creating the most reliable access possible—such as an AV fistula or graft—to ensure your treatments are effective and comfortable.

Quality care starts with a strong foundation. We’re here to help you navigate every step of your kidney health journey.

Is it just a "sore wrist," or is it something more? 🖐️

Persistent pain, numbness, or a cold sensation in your hands and fingers can often be signs of underlying vascular issues, such as peripheral artery disease (PAD) or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. When blood flow is restricted, your body sends warning signals.

At Michigan Vascular Center, our experts specialize in diagnosing and treating the circulatory conditions that affect your quality of life. Don’t ignore the signs.

Today is National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day, and at Michigan Vascular Center, we want to remind our patients that medication safety is a vital part of your vascular health journey. 💊🗑️

Many of our patients rely on life-saving medications like blood thinners, blood pressure medicine, and cholesterol management. Keeping your cabinet organized and free of expired or unused prescriptions isn't just about cleaning—it’s about preventing dangerous mix-ups.

3 Tips for Your Vascular Medicine Cabinet:

1. Check the Dates: Expired medications can lose their effectiveness. If your blood thinner is out of date, it may not be providing the protection you need.

2. Dispose Safely: Don't just toss pills in the trash or flush them. Find a local "drug take-back" location or use a specialized disposal kit.

3. Keep a Current List: Use this day to update the list of medications you bring to your appointments. Accurate information helps our specialists provide the best care possible.

Let’s use today to make our homes a little safer. Your health is worth the extra few minutes!

This National , we are highlighting the vital connection between your vascular health and your ability to breathe easy. 🫁❤️

Did you know that one of the most serious respiratory emergencies—a Pulmonary Embolism (PE)—actually starts in the veins? A blood clot, often beginning as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) in the legs, can travel through the vascular system and block blood flow to the lungs.

At Michigan Vascular Center, our specialists are experts in identifying and treating DVT early to prevent these life-threatening respiratory complications. Integrated care means looking at the whole body; when your circulation is clear, your lungs can do their job.
