One question I hear often is:

“What can I drink that actually supports my health and my blood sugar?”

With so many beverages marketed as “healthy,” “functional,” or “better for you,” it can feel overwhelming to know what choices actually make sense for your body.

The truth? Healthy hydration doesn’t have to be complicated. Small choices, like adding flavor without added sugar, including protein and fiber when appropriate, and choosing beverages that fit your lifestyle, can make a meaningful difference.

I recently shared my thoughts on refreshing drinks that can be part of a blood-sugar-friendly approach, including one of my favorites to discuss with clients: 100% tomato juice.
Research has explored how drinking tomato juice before meals may help reduce post-meal blood sugar spikes, and it can be a simple, nutrient-rich option when chosen thoughtfully.

But here’s the bigger message I always want people to remember:

đŸ„€ Nutrition is not about finding the “perfect” drink.
💧 It’s about understanding your body, your goals, and how your choices fit into your life.

Whether you are managing diabetes, prediabetes, weight concerns, athletic goals, or simply trying to feel better — there is room for enjoyable foods and beverages while supporting your health.

Thank you to Verywell for including my perspective! 💜

This week has been one of those weeks—challenging, emotional, and exhausting. But I get to end it with my hands in challah dough... kneading, braiding, baking, and breathing.

This is what I mean when I tell my clients that food is about so much more than calories.

Food is tradition. It's culture. It's family. It's connection. It's the memories we create and the ones we carry with us.

So embrace your religion. Celebrate your culture. Honor your heritage. Eat the foods that tell your story. Share them with the people you love, and allow yourself to experience the joy they bring.

Because sometimes nourishment has nothing to do with nutrition facts and everything to do with feeding your soul.

If your “healthy lifestyle” only exists Monday through Friday, it’s not really a lifestyle; it’s a cycle.

Calling weekends “cheat days” might feel harmless, but it often sets up an all-or-nothing pattern: restriction during the week, followed by guilt, overeating, or a sense of being out of control on the weekend. Then Monday rolls around, and the cycle starts again. That’s not balance, that’s burnout.

Your body doesn’t reset on Monday morning. It responds to patterns over time. When weekends become a free-for-all, it can disrupt hunger cues, energy levels, digestion, and your relationship with food.

What if instead, weekends were just
 part of your life?
Meals out, slower mornings, different routines, but still grounded in self-respect, satisfaction, and flexibility.

Instead of “cheating,” try:

Eating regularly throughout the day (even on weekends)
Including foods you enjoy without the “last supper” mentality
Staying connected to your hunger and fullness cues
Letting one meal be one meal, not a reason to spiral.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection. It means showing up for yourself in a way that feels sustainable, even when your schedule changes.

You don’t need to earn your food during the week or make up for it on Monday. You deserve a way of eating that works all 7 days.
