New ANSI STANDARD for Workplace First Aid Released
The revised ANSI standard was approved September 17, effective immediately, and started a 6-month compliance window. ANSI Z308.1-2026 helps employers select, maintain, and position first aid supplies based on anticipated workplace hazards and response needs.

What’s new?
• Updated minimum kit requirements, including bilingual English/Spanish first aid guides and clearer criteria for arterial tourniquets
• Expanded guidance for supplemental supplies, including naloxone and anti-choking devices
• New considerations for mobile workers, including kit location, contents, storage, and inspection
• Stronger hazard assessment guidance to help determine appropriate supplies, kit quantities, and placement
• New first aid training guidance to help employees implement workplace first aid programs and respond effectively in an emergency
The goal: first aid supplies and programs that better reflect the actual hazards and needs of today’s workplace.
