Calming Voice Counseling Services I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, license # P1210103. I’m an empty nester who's been married for many years.

I have an adult daughter, who is currently teaching me how to be a "Swiftie" and my husband and I are the caregivers of two wonderful dogs - a pomeranian, who had to have a life-saving heart surgery when she was a puppy, and a poodle shih tzu mix. I’m also a proud supporter and ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and believe in equality, inclusion, and human rights.

July 10th is Panic Awareness Day. 💙
If you experience panic or anxiety, know that your feelings and experiences are real and valid. Be gentle with yourself and remember it’s ok to take things one moment at a time.

One helpful set of skills is TIPP Skills .
TIPP is a set of distress tolerance skills that helps change your body’s chemistry to reduce emotional distress.
Some examples of TIPP Skills include:
T – Temperature:
Hold a cold ice pack against your cheeks or in your hand for 15–30 seconds.
I – Intense Exercise:
Try jumping jacks, running in place, brisk walking, or dancing for a few minutes.
P – Paced Breathing:
Take slow, steady breaths, such as inhaling for 4 seconds and exhaling for 6 seconds. Do this at a pace that feels comfortable for you and repeat for 1–2 minutes.
P – Progressive Muscle Relaxation:
Slowly tense and relax different muscle groups, starting at your feet and working your way up to your head. Hold for 5 seconds and release.

Remember that everyone’s body responds differently. These are just examples of skills you can try, and it’s important to choose strategies that feel safe and work best for your body💛

❤️July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month, also recognized as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, named in honor of the author and advocate Bebe Moore Campbell, who fought for greater awareness and equitable mental health care for communities of color.
This month invites us to listen, learn, and continue raising awareness about the mental health experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities while advocating for equitable access to care for all.

On this day in 1865, troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and delivered the news that enslaved people were free. This was over two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed.
Juneteenth is a time to reflect on this history and honor the resilience, courage, and humanity of those who endured slavery. It calls us to remain engaged in learning, dialogue, and the ongoing work of building a more just and inclusive future.❤️

Happy Pride Month 🌈
Pride shows up in many different ways. For some, it’s celebration, community, and visibility. For others, it’s quieter—shaped by personal circumstances, family dynamics, or safety considerations.
However you experience Pride this month, your experience matters. Whether you’re celebrating openly, connecting in small ways, reflecting on your journey, or simply moving through each day as yourself, there is space for all of it.
Wishing you a month filled with joy, affirmation, belonging, connection, and care. 💛

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month💙
Many men face depression, anxiety, and emotional struggles quietly, often fearing judgment or stigma. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
This month, take a moment to check in with yourself and the men in your life. A kind conversation, a listening ear, or reaching out for support can make all the difference. Notice the signs, start the conversation, and remind each other that no one has to face it alone.
