Knowing when to seek care is an important part of protecting your health and preventing complications. Early recognition of symptoms and timely treatment can help patients recover more quickly and reduce the risk of severe illness.

Common respiratory infections may include colds, influenza, bronchitis, pneumonia, and other conditions that affect the lungs and airways. While many cases can be managed with guidance from your healthcare provider, certain symptoms may signal the need for emergency medical care.

Signs you should contact your doctor may include:

• Fever lasting several days

Join us on Wednesday, June 17th from 12:00 - 1:00 PM for "The Importance of Pediatric Care" presented by Dr. Bchara Janadri, Bayou Bend Health System's new pediatrician. This month's lunch & Learn is part of Bayou Bend Health System's WellFest, so we encourage participants to come early or stay after in order to walk the health fair and learn about all the health services Bayou Bend and other community partners have to offer.

Dr. Janadri will cover all things pediatric--from tiny toes to teenage years. He will answer your questions, share helpful tips, and offer insight into keeping your child healthy at every stage.

Participants will be treated to a complimentary lunch courtesy of our sponsor Acadiana Hearing Center. Participants may also bring their own lunch.

This event is FREE to attend, but registration is required in order to ensure enough seating and lunches.

Bayou Bend Health System is proud to announce the expansion of its clinical services with the addition of urology care, led by Kelly E. Bewsey, MD, PhD. As a board-certified urologist, Dr. Bewsey brings over 20 years of advanced expertise and a comprehensive approach to diagnosing and treating conditions of the urinary tract and male reproductive system.

Dr. Bewsey earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University, followed by a Ph.D. from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. He went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago and his urology residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Bewsey has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria.

Most recently, Dr. Bewsey practiced as a locum tenens physician, providing urology services at multiple hospitals in Georgia. He is board certified by the American Board of Urology.

The addition of urology services enhances access to specialized care for patients in the region. Services include the evaluation and treatment of conditions such as kidney stones, urinary tract disorders, prostate conditions, and other urologic concerns, allowing patients to receive high-quality care close to home.

Dr. Bewsey will begin seeing patients in Suite C of the Bayou Bend Medical Office Building located at 200 Medical Dr. in Franklin, LA, on Monday, June 8, 2026. New patients are welcome. For all inquiries or to schedule an appointment, please call (337) 907-6762.

🗣️ Calling all past, present, and future bariatric patients!

Bayou Bend Bariatric Center is launching its inaugural virtual bariatric support group where past, present, and potential future bariatric patients can meet once a month to celebrate successes, discuss struggles, and ask any questions you may have in a welcoming, supportive environment. Meetings will be led by our Registered Dietician, Kourtney Wingate, RD, LDN, MPH.

The group will meet on Zoom on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM beginning on June 11, 2026.
