NEW EPISODE of my podcast Journey to the Positive Path. My guest is Shawn O'Connor, the founder of Reflections Lifestyle Center who shares about their approach to PTSD and other mental health disorders.

PTSD is treatable and there IS hope.

09/02/2026

PTSD can affect far more than veterans or first responders. Trauma can come from violence, abuse, neglect, bullying, chronic stress, sexual assault, and other experiences — and its effects can show up in relationships, work, sleep, substance use, anxiety, depression, and everyday life.

In this episode, Positive Path owner Sari Dangler sits down with Shawn O’Connor, Executive Chairman of Reflections Lifestyle Center, for an important conversation about post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma, and the treatment options available for people who need more support than traditional weekly therapy.

Sean also shares his own experience as a survivor of sexual assault and how his personal treatment journey inspired him to create a mental health program designed to fill gaps he saw in the system.

Together, they discuss the different forms trauma can take, why PTSD often occurs alongside depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders, and treatment approaches including EMDR, DBT, cognitive processing therapy, and individualized trauma-focused care.

They also break down Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), how these programs allow many people to continue living at home and even working while receiving treatment, and why finding the right level of care can make such a difference.

Most importantly, this conversation offers a reminder for anyone struggling with trauma — or watching someone they love struggle — that PTSD is treatable and help is available.

I was humbled to be recognized as an Influential Woman by the Influential Women company ❤️ Thank you ❤️

I have learned that success never occurs in isolation; it is deeply rooted in the community and the people we choose to surround ourselves with. Meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything I do, and I believe that the secret to any lasting connection is prioritizing giving over taking. It is my firm belief that what we put out into the world eventually finds its way back to us, and I strive to lead with that spirit of generosity every day.

I would encourage young women entering my industry to recognize the value of building genuine, meaningful relationships. I consistently emphasize with my supervisees and colleagues that professional growth, personal development, and business success are all strengthened by taking the time to truly get to know people and invest in those connections. In our field, referrals and opportunities often come from people who know, trust, and respect you, so establishing a strong professional network is essential. At the same time, I believe it is important to remain authentic and allow people to see who you genuinely are. Building relationships with integrity, consistency, and authenticity can open doors, create lasting partnerships, and support long-term success.

Thank you for my friends and community partners-- and family❤️
