This October, pink represents so much more than a color. 🎀💗

Behind every breast cancer diagnosis is a woman, a family, and a circle of people whose lives are changed right alongside hers. There are moments of fear, strength, exhaustion, hope, uncertainty, and incredible courage, and no one should have to walk through those moments feeling alone.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Comfort Keepers of North Georgia is honoring the fighters who are still in the middle of their journey, the survivors who remind us what strength can look like, the families and caregivers who quietly show up day after day, and the beautiful lives of those we carry with us in memory.

Sometimes support looks like a ride to an appointment. Sometimes it is a meal, a phone call, sitting beside someone on a hard day, or simply reminding them that they are loved. Those small acts can mean more than we realize.

To every person whose life has been touched by breast cancer, we see you, we stand with you, and we are thinking of you this October and always. 💕

Caring for Dad Means Caring for You, Too ❤️

You love your dad, and you want to be there for him. But as Parkinson’s disease makes dressing, meals, and even sitting on the porch drinking coffee more difficult, being the person he depends on every day can become a lot to carry.

Maybe you’ve started skipping plans with your kids, falling behind at work, or feeling guilty anytime you do something for yourself. You want Dad to have the help he needs, but you also miss having time to simply be his daughter or son again.

That’s where Comfort Keepers of North Georgia can help. Through Respite Care, a Comfort Keepers caregiver like Danielle can step in to help Dad with the everyday routines that have become more challenging, while also providing companionship, conversation, and a familiar presence in the home. That extra support can give family caregivers time to rest, run errands, spend time with their own families, or simply recharge. AARP explains that Respite Care can give family caregivers time to rest and tend to their own needs.

Maybe that means playing soccer with your son, catching up on errands, or taking an afternoon for yourself without worrying about whether Dad is alone. He has a caring person beside him, and you have the opportunity to come back feeling more like his daughter or son again, not just his caregiver. ❤️

Comfort Keepers is here to support your loved one while also helping you find a little more balance along the way.

Sometimes, the Best Exercise Is the Kind That Makes You Smile 💙

There’s something special about watching a senior get caught up in the moment, following along with the game, laughing when things don’t go quite as planned, and sharing a little friendly competition with the people around them. For a while, it isn’t about age or what may have become harder. It’s simply about having fun together. ✨

That fun can have benefits, too. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explains that physical activity can support brain health and help older adults maintain their independence.

These are the kinds of moments Companion Care from Comfort Keepers of North Georgia encourages. Caregivers can help seniors stay involved in activities they enjoy while bringing conversation, encouragement, and companionship into their day.

For families, seeing Mom, Dad, or a loved one laughing, participating, and looking forward to something can mean more than simply knowing they’re staying active. It means seeing a little more of the person they’ve always known and loved. 💙

The Years Add Up. So Does the Impact. 🎉💙

Today we’re celebrating one wonderful year with Melinda B., RN, and we feel incredibly lucky to have her as part of the Comfort Keepers of North Georgia family.

Melinda brings years of nursing experience to her role, including time spent caring for some of the tiniest and most vulnerable patients as a NICU nurse. That experience says so much about who she is. She is compassionate, patient, attentive, and deeply caring, with a natural ability to make people feel supported and at ease.

Whether she is helping a client, supporting a family, or working alongside our team, Melinda brings kindness, professionalism, and a genuine heart for others into everything she does. She understands that great care is about more than simply meeting needs. It is about listening, building trust, offering reassurance, and making people feel seen and valued.

Outside of work, Melinda loves crafting, decorating, traveling, entertaining, and spending time with her family and her fur baby, Rocky. 🐾✈️ Her creativity, warmth, and love for people shine through both personally and professionally.

Melinda, thank you for an amazing first year and for the heart, experience, and compassion you bring to Comfort Keepers of North Georgia every single day. We are so grateful for you and so happy to have you on our team! ❤️

When You’re Afraid of Losing More Than Her Memory 🎨❤️

Elaine’s husband had always loved watching her paint. He knew the look on her face when she was deciding on the perfect color and how proud she was when she finished something she loved.

Then Alzheimer’s disease began changing their days. Planning activities became confusing, unfamiliar places became harder to navigate, and Elaine stopped reaching for her paints as often.

Her husband knew Alzheimer’s was changing things, but that didn’t make it easier to watch. He wasn’t only worried about her memory. He was afraid of watching the interests, routines, and little pieces of Elaine that he had loved for decades slowly slip away too.

When Elaine showed interest in a local senior art class, Comfort Keepers caregiver Maria helped her get back to something that still brought her joy. With permission from Elaine and her family, Maria accompanies her to class and stays close as a familiar, reassuring face while Elaine paints and connects with others.

The Alzheimer’s Association explains that activities connected to a person’s interests and abilities can bring enjoyment and a sense of belonging. For Elaine, picking up a paintbrush again meant much more than having something to do.

Through Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care from Comfort Keepers of North Georgia, Elaine can keep experiencing moments that still feel like her.

And when her husband sees paint on her hands and that familiar smile on her face, Alzheimer’s doesn’t get to be the biggest part of their day. ❤️

Excited for What’s Ahead in Gainesville 💚🏠

Today is an exciting day for Comfort Keepers of Gainesville as we celebrate our continued expansion in a community that means so much to us. ❤️

For owner Jennifer Jack-Wunder, growth has never been about simply becoming a bigger company. It’s about being able to reach more people.

It means being there for another daughter who needs help caring for Mom. Another husband who wants his wife to remain comfortable at home. Another Veteran looking for support and connection. And another senior who wants to hold onto the routines, relationships, and independence that make life feel like their own.

That’s what makes this expansion so meaningful to Jennifer and our entire team. Every opportunity to grow is an opportunity to serve more families, create more meaningful caregiving jobs, strengthen community relationships, and make a difference in the place we’re proud to call home.

As we celebrate today’s ribbon-cutting, we’re incredibly excited about what this expansion will allow us to do for seniors and families throughout Gainesville. 💚

Does your loved one have to need a lot of help before considering care at home? 💙🏡

This video challenges that common myth. Support can begin with something as simple as companionship and staying connected to the routines that make each day meaningful.

The CDC reports that strong social connections can improve quality of life and support health and well-being.

Through Companion Care, Comfort Keepers of North Georgia's caregivers provide conversation, companionship, and help with everyday routines while respecting each senior’s independence.

💙 Meet the Team Monday: Lisa Tell

For more than 13 years, Lisa Tell has been a familiar and dependable part of the Comfort Keepers family. Since joining the team in 2013, she has built a lasting career with us and now serves as our Digital Records Administrator.

Around the office, Lisa has earned another unofficial title: “office therapist.” She’s the person who will listen when you need to talk, offer encouragement when you need it most, and remind you that you always have someone in your corner. Her strong faith and commitment to spreading kindness are part of what makes Lisa so special to our team. 💙

Outside of work, Lisa loves shopping, spending time with family, and gathering for regular dinners and game nights. And here’s something you might not expect: she has even driven race cars! 🏎️

Lisa’s 13+ years with Comfort Keepers represent something we’re incredibly proud of: long-term relationships with team members who grow with us and become part of our family.

Help us celebrate Lisa and more than a decade of dedication to Comfort Keepers! 👏💙

Walter, a Navy Veteran, looked forward each year to fishing with fellow Veterans. 🎣🇺🇸 After a COPD diagnosis, lower stamina made longer outings more challenging, and his son worried Walter might lose not only a favorite tradition, but also the friendships and connection that came with it.

With permission from Walter and his family, Comfort Keepers caregiver Brian brought a personal understanding to Walter’s Veterans Care. As a Veteran himself, Brian understood the pride, independence, and sense of connection that mattered to Walter, providing nonmedical support while honoring the experiences they shared through military service.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recognizes social connection and a sense of belonging as important parts of Veteran well-being.

Comfort Keepers of North Georgia supports Veterans with personalized care and complimentary guidance navigating VA resources and benefits, giving families a knowledgeable local partner they can count on.
