When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. “I Don’t Run Because I Want To — I Run Because I Have To”

I’ll keep it raw: some mornings are hard, the couch calls, and the excuses are endless. But skipping isn’t really private — God knows, and so do I.

Discipline isn’t about motivation or feelings. Especially after 40 and 50, your body stops forgiving. Miss a week, lose a month. Miss a month, lose a year. I’ve watched people in my church and family pay that price with diabetes, heart disease, and early death — most of it preventable.

So I run — not for medals or Instagram — but because my body is a temple, my kids need to see discipline, my community needs a living example, and God gave me this body on loan.

Your “run” doesn’t have to be running. It’s the salad over the fries, the early bedtime, the prayer before the scale. Whatever it is — stop waiting to feel like it.

Everyone told me slowing down after 50 was inevitable. I decided to prove them wrong. 4 years later, I have more energy than I did at 40. Here’s what I did differently. 👇
Most people accept fatigue, stiffness, and burnout as just “part of getting older.” I refused to settle — and it changed everything.
Here’s what I changed:
