200 mLs and calling it good. 🙌

Laura had her first fill since getting her tissue expanders placed, bringing her to 200 mLs of saline in each expander.

They can hold up to 300 mLs, but Laura doesn’t anticipate going any further. She’s comfortable with where she is—and her doctor agrees she’s ready for the next step.

Now we wait for the phone call. 📞

Her next surgery is officially ready to be scheduled, and we’re just waiting to get a date on the calendar.

Another milestone checked off. Another step forward. 💗

As always, Laura is sharing the good, the uncomfortable and everything in between as she moves through breast cancer and reconstruction—one decision at a time.

Laura came out of her latest doctor’s appointment FIRED UP. 🔥

Tamoxifen was recommended—and Laura had questions. A LOT of them.

After digging into the research with Amy and weighing the risks and benefits for her personally, Laura decided: this isn’t the route I want to take.

Instead, she’s adding Natera Signatera™ to her surveillance plan—a personalized blood test that can help detect molecular signs of cancer and monitor for recurrence.

This is what advocating for your health looks like. 👏

One drain down! 🙌

Laura had her first post-op appointment since having her tissue expanders placed, and she’s healing nicely! Her left drain is officially OUT, and we’re crossing our fingers the right one follows this Friday. 🤞

After her double mastectomy, Laura had tissue expanders placed to gradually prepare her skin for permanent implants. Right now, she has 100 mL of saline in each expander, with room for up to 300 mL.

Her description of how they feel? “Like a waterbed.” 😂

Once her incisions have had more time to heal, she’ll begin the filling process—about 50 mL at a time, spaced at least a week apart, depending on how her skin responds.

Her doctor expects the initial healing process to take about six weeks, with permanent implant surgery potentially happening in the next 2–3 months.

Fingers crossed for October! 🤞
