After everything it takes to get to transfer day, every little movement can feel scary.

Did I stand up too fast?
Can I p*e?
What if I cough?
Can I go up stairs?
Did I just ruin everything?

Let’s talk about the cup.

A semen analysis may be the most awkward fertility test, but it is also one of the simplest and most useful. No surgery. No anesthesia. No catheter. Just a sample, a clock, and a lab that can give us important information about male fertility.

In this episode of Taco Bout Fertility Tuesday, we break down what actually happens at a semen analysis appointment.

How do you prepare?
Can you collect at home?
What if you miss the cup?
What if you can’t collect in the office?
What does the lab actually check?
And what does it mean if the result is abnormal?

We talk about s***m count, motility, morphology, volume, total motile count, abstinence timing, collection instructions, and why testosterone can actually hurt s***m production instead of helping it.

Most importantly, we talk about why one abnormal semen analysis does not automatically mean infertility.

Sometimes it means we repeat the test. Sometimes it means we look for lifestyle, medication, hormone, or heat-related causes. Sometimes it helps us decide whether IUI, IVF, ICSI, or a reproductive urology referral makes the most sense.

The test may feel awkward, but the information is powerful.

🚨 Did your doctor really miss something… or did Instagram just scare you?

🚨 PCOS just got a new name… but will it actually change anything?

PCOS is now being renamed **PMOS** — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

Sounds fancy. Sounds scientific. Sounds like progress.

But here’s the uncomfortable question…

👉 Is this a real medical shift, or did PCOS just get a rebrand?

For years, patients have been told PCOS is about “cysts,” irregular periods, fertility problems, or needing to “just lose weight.”

But PCOS was never just about cysts.
It was never just about fertility.
And it was definitely never just about willpower.

It’s a metabolic and hormonal disorder tied to insulin resistance, diabetes risk, ovulation problems, androgen levels, endometrial cancer risk, and long-term health.

So yes, PMOS is a better name.

But patients don’t need a better acronym.

They need better care.

In this episode, I break down why PCOS was misnamed, what PMOS really means, and whether this name change will actually push doctors to treat the whole disease — not just the symptoms.
