It is one of the most challenging journeys a family can face and it often happens quietly, without enough support or recognition.

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and two thirds of them are women. There is currently no cure but early detection matters more than ever.

Warning signs include memory loss that disrupts daily life, difficulty with familiar tasks, confusion with time or place, and changes in mood or personality. If you are noticing these changes in yourself or someone you love, please talk to a doctor. And if you are a caregiver, please remember to take care of yourself too.

Today is Family Health & Fitness Day! πŸ’ͺ

Research shows that spending time in parks and green spaces lowers stress, improves mental health, strengthens relationships, and increases physical activity for both kids and adults.

You do not need a gym, a plan, or a lot of money. You just need to get outside together. Take a walk, ride bikes, throw a frisbee, have a picnic, explore a trail.

Whatever looks like fun for your family. Glendive has beautiful spaces to enjoy this summer β€” get out there and use them!

πŸ’™ June is Men's Health Month and we are going to be direct about something: men are significantly less likely than women to go to the doctor, less likely to get screened for serious conditions, and more likely to be diagnosed with something only after it has progressed.

Heart disease, colon cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure β€” these are not conditions that announce themselves early. They are found through checkups and labs.

The "I feel fine" approach has a real cost and the men in our community deserve better than that.

So this month we are talking directly to the men of Dawson County: when did you last have a checkup? When did you last know your blood pressure, your cholesterol, your blood sugar?

Your family needs you around for a long time. πŸ’™

πŸ’š Teen su***de rates are declining β€” and researchers believe 988 is a big reason why.

Since the three-digit crisis line launched in 2022, su***de deaths among young people dropped 11% below projections. Nearly 4,400 fewer deaths than expected.

States with the most 988 calls saw the biggest drops. More calls. Fewer deaths.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988. Free, confidential, 24/7. πŸ’™

πŸš— The number one reason teens car accidents is not recklessness β€” it is inexperience.

New drivers simply have not encountered enough situations yet to know how to react. That is where parents come in. If you have a teen with a learner's permit this summer, the hours you spend in the passenger seat genuinely matter.

More miles, more confidence, more safety. πŸ’™

πŸ”₯ This week is Montana Wildfire Smoke Ready Week! Here are a couple of things to remember:

Smoke travels β€” it does not have to be burning near you to affect your air quality. When smoke is heavy: stay indoors, keep windows closed, wear an N95 outside, and check airnow.gov before heading out.

Kids, older adults, pregnant women, and anyone with asthma or heart disease should be extra cautious.

Something we don't talk about enough: dog bites.

Every year thousands of children are treated in emergency departments across the U.S. for dog bites, and kids under 6 are especially vulnerable. And here is the part that surprises most people: it is usually not a stranger's dog. It is often the family pet.

A few simple things parents can teach their kids right now: always ask before petting someone else's dog, never bother a dog while it is eating or sleeping, and never approach a dog you do not know without an adult present. Supervision matters more than most people realize β€” even with dogs your family knows and loves!

Dog bites are a preventable public health issue. Share this as a reminder this summer when kids and dogs are spending more time together outdoors. 🐢

Summer is here and if you are already wondering how to keep the kids entertained, we have you covered!

The Nurturing Tree Park Series on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM is free, fun, and perfect for little ones.

Storytime followed by a craft or activity, all outdoors, in the community, where kids can just be kids!

Next week they are heading to Eyer Park for something really special. Local first responders will be joining them including the Fire Department, Sheriff's Office, Police K-9 Unit, and Ambulance and EMS. Kids will get to meet the heroes in our community up close, explore emergency vehicles, and learn about the important work they do.
