In this 5-minute overview, Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar explains the philosophy behind his approach to vision loss, including why circulation, nervous system regulation, cellular energy, recovery, and whole-body health may all matter when supporting visual function.

You’ll also get a quick look at the 10-Day Vision Balance Program and how therapies such as targeted acupuncture, photobiomodulation, microcurrent stimulation, and hydrogen therapy are combined as supportive care alongside ophthalmologic treatment.

Your eye chart can look fairly stable, yet dim restaurants, parking garages, dusk, or nighttime driving may suddenly feel much harder.

With macular degeneration, low-light vision can be affected because dark adaptation, contrast, glare recovery, and rod function all play a role in how well you see outside a brightly lit exam room.

Our latest article explains why this happens, what signs to pay attention to, and simple ways to make low-light situations easier and safer.

AMD can make dim light, headlights, and bright-to-dark transitions more difficult. Learn how dark adaptation works and why eye-chart vision may still look good.

Heartburn after dinner. A sour taste when you lie down. Waking at night with burning or throat irritation. Acid reflux can seem like a simple digestive problem, but when it becomes frequent, it can interfere with eating, sleep, and everyday comfort.

At Life Balance Clinic, we take an individualized approach to acid reflux and GERD. Instead of automatically giving every patient the same long list of foods to avoid, we look at patterns such as meal timing and size, personal triggers, sleep habits, stress, and what has already been medically evaluated. Depending on the individual, complementary support may include nutritional guidance, stress management, and acupuncture alongside appropriate medical GERD care.

One important point: occasional acid reflux and GERD are not exactly the same thing. Persistent or troublesome reflux deserves proper medical evaluation, particularly when there is difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, bleeding, persistent vomiting, or symptoms that continue despite treatment. lifebalanceclinic.com

That ringing, buzzing, humming, or hissing that no one else can hear has a name: tinnitus. For some people it stays in the background, while for others it can interfere with sleep, concentration, relaxation, and emotional well-being.

Tinnitus is not one disease with one universal cause. Hearing loss, noise exposure, certain medications, ear problems, jaw clenching or TMJ dysfunction, neck issues, and other factors may contribute. Stress can also make the sound feel much more intrusive, even when stress was not what originally caused it.

At Life Balance Clinic, Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar provides individualized complementary care that considers the broader pattern, including hearing and medical findings, sleep, stress, jaw and neck tension, and how tinnitus is affecting everyday life. Acupuncture may be considered as one complementary option, although current research remains mixed and appropriate hearing or medical evaluation should come first.

If you’ve been living with tinnitus, learn more about possible causes, evaluation, and management options on our new page.

Are you getting the full benefit from your broccoli? 🥦

One of broccoli’s most interesting compounds, sulforaphane, doesn’t simply depend on how much broccoli you eat. How you prepare it can influence how much is formed.

Try chopping your broccoli and letting it sit for about 30 to 40 minutes before cooking. This gives the enzyme myrosinase time to do its work. If the broccoli is already cooked, adding a little mustard powder can provide more of this enzyme and support sulforaphane formation.

It’s a small kitchen habit, but it’s a great example of something I tell my patients often: improving nutrition isn’t always about completely changing what you eat. Sometimes understanding how food works can help you get more from what is already on your plate.

Would you try this the next time you cook broccoli?

Feeling more emotional doesn’t necessarily mean you’re becoming less resilient. Sometimes it means your nervous system has been carrying too much for too long.

Think about how differently you react to the same problem after a good night’s sleep compared with a week of poor sleep and constant pressure. Your circumstances may not have changed much, but your capacity to handle them has.

This is why emotional resilience is not about becoming unaffected by life. It is about developing the ability to experience stress, frustration, fear, or disappointment and then return to your baseline instead of remaining stuck in that state.

Sleep, physical activity, meaningful recovery, healthy relationships, and learning how to regulate your response to stress all contribute to that capacity.

If you’ve noticed that things you once handled easily now feel overwhelming, pay attention to that change. Your body may be asking for recovery, not more pressure.

Have you ever felt like you were watching your life from the outside, moving through the day on autopilot, or experiencing the world as strangely unreal or dreamlike?

These experiences can occur with depersonalization and derealization, often referred to as DPDR. They can be frightening, especially when you don’t understand what is happening. DPDR is often associated with periods of intense stress, anxiety, panic, sleep disruption, trauma, or nervous system hyperarousal.

At Life Balance Clinic, we look beyond the symptoms to understand the individual triggers and patterns that may be keeping the nervous system in a heightened state. Our integrative approach may include acupuncture, hypnotherapy, stress-management techniques, auriculotherapy, lifestyle support, and collaboration with your existing physician or therapist when appropriate.

If these feelings sound familiar, learn more about DPDR, possible triggers, grounding techniques, and our approach to care.
