What affects how fast speech results show up?
1. Type of speech issue
* Articulation (pronouncing sounds like “R” or “S”) → often quicker progress
* Language delays (forming sentences, understanding) → takes longer
* Social/pragmatic speech → more gradual, long-term
2. Age of your child
* Younger kids (2–4) can improve quickly because their brains are highly adaptable
* Older kids may take longer but can progress steadily with practice
3. Frequency of therapy
* 1x/week → slower but still effective
* 2–3x/week + home practice → much faster results
4. Practice at home (this is huge)
* Kids who practice even 10–15 min/day improve significantly faster
* Therapy alone without reinforcement slows things down

⏱️ Typical timeline
* First 2–4 weeks:Building rapport, learning techniques, small improvements (you might notice subtle changes)
* 1–3 months:Noticeable progress (clearer sounds, more words, better communication)
* 3–6 months:Consistent improvement; others (teachers/family) start noticing
* 6–12+ months:Major gains depending on the starting point

🚩 When progress feels slow
It’s normal to feel like “nothing is happening” early on. That said, check in with the therapist if:
* You see zero change after ~2–3 months
* You’re not getting clear “home practice” guidance
* Goals aren’t being updated or tracked

💡 How to speed things up (big impact)
* Turn practice into games (not “work”)
* Repeat what the therapist is doing at home
* Praise effort, not perfection
* Keep sessions consistent (don’t skip weeks)
