UNC Health Wayne recently welcomed Stacey Thompson, representing the North Carolina Board of Nursing, which helps protect the public by regulating nursing practice across the state.

Stacey presented to our new graduate RNs and closed with a meaningful reminder: always remember your “why.” Opportunities like this reflect our commitment to supporting our newest nurses as they grow and build long, fulfilling careers in healthcare.

1,239 births.
8,930 surgeries.
12,155 patients discharged.
65,509 emergency department visits.

These numbers represent more than milestones. Behind each one is a teammate who showed up with expertise, compassion and teamwork when our patients and community needed us most.

Our hospital leaders wanted to pause and say thank you. Y’all truly are real life heroes. Your hard work, your care for our patients and your support for one another brought our mission to life every single day.

We are proud to announce that UNC Health Wayne has once again earned the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award!

This award is the highest level of recognition and requires strong compliance across seven key stroke care measures for 24 consecutive months or more, along with consistent performance on additional quality measures. These standards cover critical aspects of care, including rapid treatment, medication management, complication prevention and support for reducing the risk of another stroke.

For Wayne County, this means greater confidence that high quality, evidence based stroke care is available close to home when every second counts.

We’re proud to announce that UNC Health Wayne has earned the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines®–Resuscitation Silver achievement award!

This award recognizes our commitment to following research-based practices and consistently delivering timely, high-quality care during cardiac emergencies. Among the key measures are administering epinephrine within five minutes when a patient’s heart has stopped and delivering a defibrillation shock within two minutes when a life-threatening heart rhythm is identified.

Nearly 300,000 Americans experience cardiac arrest in a hospital each year. For our community, this recognition means having a prepared, highly trained team ready to act when every second matters—helping improve patients’ chances of survival and recovery while providing exceptional care close to home.

Congratulations to our dedicated teammates whose skill, preparation and commitment made this achievement possible!

Parents to be, we’d love to welcome you for a Labor and Delivery Tour this Saturday!

Come see our labor and delivery suites, C section suite, recovery and postpartum rooms, and special care nursery. You’ll meet members of our healthcare team, learn what to expect on delivery day, and have plenty of time to ask questions and talk about your birth preferences.

Tours begin at 1:00 PM. This is a relaxed walkthrough rather than a class, so you’re welcome to arrive at your convenience. Please arrive by 2:30 PM to allow enough time for the full tour.

Light snacks and refreshments will be available. We look forward to meeting you and helping you feel more comfortable and prepared for your growing family!

Dr. Dahal’s compassion, clinical excellence, and dedication to treating every patient with dignity and respect make a lasting difference. A recent patient reflected on the excellent care they received during a difficult hospital stay, sharing that every nurse, physician, and staff member went above and beyond.
