I feel feelings!
The day before the last authentic farmers market, (especially one run by farmers and hosting our regional producers of veg and meat and flower and food and family and nourishment and lived sense of community …. )

It’s half excitement to celebrate and half “aw maaaaannnnnn”
Ready for the change in season and also like, wait, it’s the end of October? I’m still catching up from spring, and planning for next year. It’s a wonderful thing to be thoroughly devoted to Land 💚 and care work

I’m refilling many tincture formulas, and poured some Mullein, Milky Oat Tops and Rose : all are updated on www.merakifarmacy.com for our long time Farmacy supporters nationwide 🙌🏼✨

New prices for the rest of the year range from 10-20% off, to reflect the needs for giving and taking care of each other and the Land and others, in all we do. I know we are all hurting. This is a farm and therapeutic connector, not another product line. We’ve been here almost 11 years in this work, and I refuse to give up. We all need farm fresh nutrition, all year long.

It’s not too late to reflect on what we learned throughout this summer,
In fact it’s a fantastic time! In order to integrate we gotta process.

I’ve been dying to tell you about my summer, as it was defined by Learning together in Community!
Which means immense collaboration happened!
Which means we made new connections even with folks, Plants and places familiar to us!
Which means I got to bring 28 years of engaging, dynamic Education experience to our favorite community events!
And TWO herb schools in Pennsylvania!

Big huge thanks to these folks for having me at their events leading classes / building skills for deep relation with herbal practice. It’s an honor and a joy!

I got to be a part of my town’s 6th grade field trip! Kids are the coolest! We talked ecology, practiced observation and playing outside. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Hawthorn Botanical Gathering and The Pennsylvania School of Herbalism for the annual gathering that fills so many hearts and minds. Save the Date for next year at Rhonymeade in central Pa. June 25-26, 2027 is the 5th annual and folks come from all over 💚

Calhoun Farm & Market for having me again for Farm Fest and offering a guided discovery walk! We had return clients, new folks, and teenagers! What a success!

Curwensville Blueberry Festival Association packed the park with so much intention and community building, and giving me the chance to walk around with Plants and People, learning from each other. Kids also joined us! This is a heart song!

Northern Appalachia School being a guest teacher last month and getting to be with a dynamic and inspiring cohort of herbalists centering ecology, justice, and depth of practice is a highlight of my entire teaching career.

Thank you! This feeds my soul, and is immense in its mutual empowerment!

Transformation happens when we tend to our learning and healing together. I always learn from you, because we really do make a community of learners when we get together.

We approach the Belly of Autumn,
and many folks’ favorite time of year. The permission slip to slow down written by the branches now bare. The invitation into the dark sent be generations and generations of our Peoples celebrating harvest, which is a ritual in Trust.

When the hard frost hits …. The last few days have been beautiful, and a culmination of thousands of seeds sown.
Frost came in hard, and I accept it 🥺

Even on time, and aligned with timing across so many, countless seasons

Even after that hard frost this Spring - you remember, don’t you?
We lost our Apples.
I could feel the heartbreak rumble across valleys and mountains.

Sobering experiences make it impossible to ignore just how tightly woven our lives are;
with Weather of all the kinds,
With folks of here and other places,
With Seeds that feed so many.

You may know I’m not all soft edges. There’s some grit, and it’s been earned 😆 but you know what helps keep me flexible enough to not break under It All? To stay rooted in what must be named Love?

Yeah the Plants, and the Bears Birds Bugs.
Yeah, it’s the primal need to Grow with Plants (what else am I going to do with these hands)

But there’s a crucial relationship / ingredient / vital component and that’s

People.
You. Your kids. Your grandma. Your bestie. Your neighbor. Our Farmers. All these women who organize very literally everything.

Elders who bless us with their stories.
Kiddos who honor us with their play and trust.

People. You.

And honestly, that’s the fullness of an ecosystem I’m really trying to practice growing together! Can’t do it without you, and don’t really want to 🫜

This growing season may be over. The apothecary is abundant. Inspiring and encouraging connections continue to be made. Now over a decade. Wow. Wow. Thank you.
