I am sure many of you have seen this news coverage today. This is a reminder of how serious this heat advisory has become. In addition to this incident Goshen EMS responded to 3 other heat related emergencies today. Please stay indoors when able. This high heat and humidity is no joke.
Thank you to our amazing crews who worked so hard today helping all of these kids get back to their families safely. Thank you also to EMS1 and EMS2 for your incredible scene management and assistance. Also a huge shout out to the agencies who helped us care for this large group of patients. Town of Newburgh EMS, Town of Wallkill EMS, New Windsor EMS, and Blooming Grove EMS. Also thank you Orange County Sheriffs Office, Goshen PD, Garnet hospital, St Anthony’s hospital and St Luke’s Newburgh and the the EMT and Paramedic who stopped to help ❤️
Sometimes this job takes a village and we at Goshen EMS are so thankful for your unwavering support and commitment.

Owl update …… The rehabilitator who I also came to find out is a vet advises that the owls prognosis is guarded given the extensive injuries. She initially thought he possibly got electrocuted due to the loss of movement on his entire right side. However, after more tests and x-rays, it turns out that our friend the owl has a fractured pelvis. While prognosis, for him may be guarded. She did say that it is positive that he is still alert and eating. She did say she would post about him soon and then any donations could be made by visiting Facebook or Instagram for docveterinarywildlife and a link could be found on those site. She said any donations are appreciated.

🦉 🦉 Whoo whooo knew Goshen EMS helped more than just people. Today, some wonderful workers from the county clerks office found an injured owl outside of the County building. Goshen EMS Chief just happened to be driving by and being an animal lover and bird enthusiast she knew she had to stop to help. She was able to contact a rehabilitator that unfortunately was not available until later on in the day. With the help of her crew, Chief Eagleston who has some exotic bird experience was able to throw a blanket over the bird and was able to transport it to the vet where the rehabilitator would eventually retrieve the injured owl after it received the care needed. *** For the EMS community reading this post.-yes we know it is not customary to transport a patient in the front seat of the fly car and no there was no patient care report created for this call **** 🦉❤️🦉
