Sibling sexual abuse is a deeply under-discussed issue that impacts many children and families, yet shame, fear, and stigma often keep survivors silent. My new blog dives into the prevalence of sibling sexual abuse and why awareness is critical to prevention, healing, and support.

✨ Education creates awareness.
✨ Awareness creates action.
✨ Action creates safer spaces for children.

One of the hardest truths about child abuse is that many children want to tell, but there are powerful reasons they stay silent.

Children may not speak up because they:
• Are scared they won’t be believed
• Feel ashamed or blame themselves
• Have been threatened
• Love the person hurting them
• Don’t have the words to explain what happened
• Fear getting someone in trouble
• Feel unsafe talking to adults

This is why creating safe, calm, supportive relationships with children matters so much. The way adults respond can change whether a child feels safe enough to share.

When a child does tell:
✨ Believe them
✨ Stay calm
✨ Listen without judgment
✨ Reassure them it is not their fault
✨ Help them connect to safe support

Sometimes the most important thing we can say is:
“I’m glad you told me.”

Sibling sexual trauma and/or abuse is one of the most misunderstood and under discussed forms of trauma — yet so many families are silent carrying the weight of it’s impact

In my newest blog learn about the stigma surrounding SSTA, the silence often faced, and why education, support, and honest conversations matter for healing

My hope is that by speaking openly we can reduce shame, increase understanding, and help families know they are not alone

✨ Healing begins when silence is broken ❤️‍🩹

“Rosie looked into the mirror and noticed she lost her color…” 🌈

Sometimes children carry heavy feelings, painful experiences, or secrets they don’t know how to talk about. When kids go through hard things, they can begin to lose pieces of themselves — their joy, confidence, voice, and sparkle.

My book Rosie’s Big Secret was written to help children understand they are not alone, that safe adults are there to help, and that their voice matters. 💛

Books can open the door to conversations that feel too scary to say out loud. My hope is that this story helps children feel seen, supported, and empowered to seek help when they need it most.

Hard conversations with kids can feel overwhelming, but they do not have to be perfect to be meaningful. 💛

Children are more likely to open up when they feel emotionally safe, listened to, and supported without judgment. Small moments of connection, calm reactions, and open-ended questions can make a lasting impact.

These conversations help build trust, emotional safety, and resilience for life. Swipe through for simple ways to start difficult conversations with children in a supportive and trauma-informed way.

When your child shares something unthinkable… everything changes.

As a parent, your focus goes straight to protecting and helping your child heal—but what often goes unseen is the impact on you.

Many parents experience secondary trauma—emotional distress that comes from supporting a loved one through trauma. It can look like anxiety, overwhelm, intrusive thoughts, or feeling constantly on edge.

You are not “too sensitive.”
You are responding to something incredibly hard.

Healing doesn’t just belong to the child—
it belongs to the whole family.

In this blog, I walk through:
✨ What secondary trauma in parents really is
✨ Signs you might be experiencing it
✨ Why your healing matters too
✨ Ways to begin caring for yourself while supporting your child
