There are some people who become so much more than coworkers or associates. They become part of the heart of an organization and the community it serves. Burrell Stein was one of those very special people.
At Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home, we were blessed to call Burrell our associate, but even more blessed to call him our friend. Throughout his retirement years, Burrell remained deeply committed to the Wayland community and continued to serve others as an active member of the Wayland Chamber of Commerce. That spirit of service was simply who Burrell was.
Burrell brought that same spirit to our funeral home. He welcomed everyone with warmth, genuine care, an easy smile, a wonderful sense of humor, and a sincere desire to make every person feel important. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved, appreciated, and acknowledged.
Whether he was greeting a family, offering a word of encouragement, sharing a story, or simply being present, Burrell made a difference. He understood that caring for people during difficult moments was more than a job. It was a privilege.
His years of service to Wayland reflected the very best of community spirit. He gave his time, his energy, his friendship, and his heart to the people around him. He was an example to all of us of how to live with purpose, kindness, generosity, and joy.
For those of us at Kubiak-Cook, Burrell brought something truly special to our days. His presence made our workplace brighter, and the families he encountered were fortunate to experience his warmth and compassion.
We will miss his smile.
We will miss his stories.
We will miss his laughter.
We will miss the joy he brought wherever he went.
And most of all, we will miss the way Burrell made everyone feel that they mattered.
Burrell was our associate, our friend, and a wonderful example of a life lived in service to others.
Thank you, Burrell, for the many ways you cared for our community and for the countless lives you touched. We are grateful for the time we had with you and honored to have called you our friend.
