Self-esteem is not built by convincing children they are perfect. It grows when they learn that mistakes, hard moments, and needing help do not change their worth.
Instead of focusing only on outcomes or fixed traits like βYouβre so smart,β try noticing what your child can recognize in themselves:
π± βI noticed how you kept going when that was difficult.β
π± βYou tried something new even though you felt nervous.β
π± βWhat are you proud of?β
π± βWhat did you learn about yourself?β
Confidence grows through real experiences, supportive connection, and feeling seenβnot compared or measured.
